Jason Richardson (knee) remains a month away from beginning a running program. |
There is no timetable for his return and fantasy owners should continue to avoid him, as the 32-year-old is being very cautious to avoid any setbacks. He has a $6.6 million player option for next season which he's very likely to exercise |

Thu Nov 21 2013 | 13:42 | Jason Richardson (knee) targeting Jan return |
Jason Richardson (knee) hasn't started running, but is targeting an early-January return. |
This moves up a previous return timetable of "January-February", but this should be taken with a grain of salt as players wanting to return early is about as certain as the sun rising in the East every day. James Anderson and Tony Wroten will continue to fill-in for Richardson, but both are better left on waiver wires unless Michael Carter-Williams or Evan Turner get hurt. |

Jason Richardson, who is coming off left knee surgery, is hoping to return in January, or early February. |
The Sixers should be out of the playoff race by then and it's hard to imagine J-Rich doing much this season. Ignore him until further notice. |

Fri Aug 23 2013 | 09:33 | Update: J-Rich 'most likely' done for season? |
76ers writer Bob Cooney reports that Jason Richardson (left knee surgery) "is most likely out for the season." |
J-Rich was originally expected out until Feb-March but a report in early August (also from Cooney) suggested that he "may not step foot on the court." The steady decline in his season outlook may reflect medical updates we're not privy to, or it may simply be a recognition that the Sixers have no incentive to play an injured veteran on a young, rebuilding team. Either way, J-Rich shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues. |

Thu Aug 8 2013 | 11:24 | Jason Richardson could miss the season |
Jason Richardson may not even set foot on the court this season. |
It's been a while since we've discussed him and there is some concern that the 2007-08 3-point champ could miss significant time while he recovers from Denovo surgery on his left knee. Richardson had the surgery back in February and is targeting a return in February 2014. He won't be worth drafting in any league and the Sixers have some of the worst depth in the backcourt in the NBA. Someone will emerge and see minutes, so the Sixers are going to have to get creative. Thaddeus Young could slide to small forward more, which could open things up for Arnett Moultrie, but there are several solutions to this problem. |

Wed Apr 10 2013 | 07:56 | Richardson undergoes unique knee procedure |
Jason Richardson's knee surgery was called "Denovo surgery." |
Denovo surgery is where the doctors take juvenile cartilage and implant it back into the damaged knees where there is a cartilage issue present. This was an alternative to micro-fracture surgery, which most fantasy basketball owners are all too familiar with at this point. Even without setbacks, Richardson won't be able to resume normal basketball activity until "late January-early February." |

Fri Feb 8 2013 | 08:56 | Jason Richardson likely facing knee surgery |
Jason Richardson, who plans to get a fourth opinion on his knee, is likely to get season-ending surgery. |
As we said previously, if three opinions all say surgery for Richardson, it's unlikely a fourth will change that outlook. We don't expect to see him again this year, locking Nick Young into a prominent role. Dorell Wright will also receive a boost with J-Rich sidelined. |

Wed Feb 6 2013 | 22:24 | Sixers say J-Rich will get fourth opinion |
Updating a previous iterm, the Sixers announced that Jason Richardson will get a fourth opinion on his left knee before deciding on surgery. |
If three medical professionals suggest he gets surgery on an issue that's been bothering him for most of the season, chances are the fourth one will have a similar plan for treatment. Richardson should be cut across the board and Nick Young is worth a look in most leagues. |

Nick Young has done enough to be owned in some standard leagues while Dorell Wright could climb his way out of Doug Collins' doghouse and gain value. |
