Casspi (illness), after missing a couple tune-up games last month, has emerged as Isreal's best player at EuroBasket, averaging 18.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.4 three-pointers in 33 minutes per game through seven contests.

Casspi has the Israelian team on the verge of qualifying for the knockout round. He excelled last season under coach George Karl, and even though he's blocked by Rudy Gay in the rotation, Casspi may still play a decent role off the bench and could be useful in deeper leagues.

Casspi did not compete in Isreal's two-game tuneup against Serbia on Saturday and Sunday due to an illness, David Pick of Basketball Insiders reports.

The Israelian National Team lost both matches against Serbia over the weekend, falling to 0-5 this summer in their exhibition season prior to EuroBasket. Casspi's exclusion from the proceedings shouldn't affect his ability to play this upcoming NBA season for the Kings.

Casspi (illness) is on the verge of re-signing with the Kings for 2 years at $6 million, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

Casspi was spectacular down the stretch for the Kings last season. Over the final eight games, mainly without the services of DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) and Rudy Gay (concussion), Casspi averaged 19.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. If George Karl plans to start Gay at power forward, Casspi may find himself starting at small forward.
