Thu Oct 18 201209:35Rashard Lewis trying to get his legs back
Rashard Lewis said that he's "trying to get (his) legs back up under (him)."
Lewis was touted as a solid pickup for the Heat in the offseason, but this is a reminder that this guy is not the player he once was. Now 33 after missing most of the last two seasons and coming off of two knee surgeries, Lewis will have to show that he's worthy of a consistent spot in the rotation. He's hands off in fantasy formats.

Mon Oct 15 201212:30Rashard Lewis to be brought along slowly
Rashard Lewis will be brought along slowly by the Heat.
"Rashard Lewis is coming back from an injury situation where he's been out effectively almost two straight years," Erik Spoelstra said. "We want to get minutes for Rashard, so he gets a little bit more in rhythm." Those looking for the fountain of youth to suddenly hit Lewis should wipe that idea from their mind. We're talking about a guy who shot just 38.5 percent last season and 23.9 percent from behind the 3-point line.

Sun Sep 30 201209:45Rashard Lewis prepping for bench role w/ Heat
Rashard Lewis said that although he would prefer to start at SF, he is preparing for a bench role.
"I just want to come in and get healthy and get my legs back under me," said Lewis. "I'm looking for coming off the bench ... That's not my preferred role but that's how I'm looking at things. I'm going to let Coach just make that decision." Lewis could eventually start at SF ahead of Shane Battier, and fantasy owners should keep an eye on him as a potential 3-point specialist.

Wed Jul 11 201211:18Rashard Lewis, Heat ink two-year contract
The Heat officially signed Rashard Lewis to a two-year, $2.8 million contract on Wednesday.
Lewis has struggled in recent years with injuries, ill-defined roles, and the pressure of being historically overpaid, but he should be quite useful in a veteran-backup role for the defending champs. At the very least, Lewis' career 38.8 percent mark from downtown should force defenses to respect his presence offensively.

Tue Jul 10 201217:13Report: Rashard Lewis agrees to sign w/ Heat
Rashard Lewis has agreed to a two-year contract to join the Heat.
This basically makes official our report from an hour ago that the two sides were nearing a deal. Lewis will get the veteran's minimum and should be a perfect fit for the Heat, joining Ray Allen and Norris Cole as immediate help off the bench once LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers are ready for a break. The rich get richer, if Lewis is over the right knee problem that limited him to 28 games last season.

Tue Jul 10 201216:14Sources: Rashard Lewis likely to join Heat
Chris Tomasson is reporting on Twitter that his sources say free agent forward Rashard Lewis is likely to join the Miami Heat for the veteran's minimum of $1.35 million.
Adding both Lewis and Ray Allen should give the Heat plenty of 3-point shooting power, and while Lewis was a disaster after signing a massive contract in Orlando, he should be a perfect fit in Miami.

Mon Jul 9 201212:35Rashard Lewis being wooed by Heat
Unrestricted free agent Rashard Lewis met with Miami Heat officials on Sunday night.
The Heat are said to be going after Lewis with the same vigor as they did with Ray Allen last week. A source described the meeting as having gone "very well" and if he signs with Miami, there would be nowhere near the pressure he had when signing his huge deal with Orlando a few years ago. Still collecting $13.7 million from the last year of his monster amnestied deal, Lewis is the exact kind of player that could sign for the league minimum with Miami. The Heat are on the verge of building a scary good team if Bosh ends up being able to man the middle in South Beach.

Thu Jul 5 201217:57Rashard Lewis to visit Heat this week
Unrestricted free agent forward Rashard Lewis is set to visit the Heat this week.
Lewis' contract was one of the worst in league history, but if the Heat can snag him on the cheap, it could be a tremendous add. Lewis has been a disaster ever since leaving the Magic, but with less money involved and lower expectations, he could really help a team like Miami. The Hawks and Knicks are also said to be interested in signing Lewis.

Tue Jul 3 201209:57Report: Rashard Lewis interested in Heat
Recently waived F Rashard Lewis is interested in joining the Heat, according to his agent.
Lewis was expected to draw interest from the Heat after he cleared waivers, and now we know that the interest is mutual. Lewis is expected to sign with a contender after he clears waivers.

Sun Jul 1 201214:06Rashard Lewis drawing interest as FA
Once Rashard Lewis clears waivers, he is expected to draw interest from the Celtics, Hawks, Heat, Knicks and Lakers.
Lewis has obviously made tons of money over the past decade and may be willing to accept a low-end deal to join a contender. He struggled with injuries last year, averaging just 7.8 points on 38.5 percent shooting for the Wizards, but has enough gas in the tank to intrigue league execs.

Sat Jun 30 201219:25Hornets waive Rashard Lewis, save $9 million
The Hornets have waived Rashard Lewis, paying nearly $14 million of his $22.7 million salary.
This move was expected, saving New Orleans about $9 million as part of the deal that sent away Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza. No team is going to claim Lewis and his ludicrous salary off waivers outright, and it will be interesting to see how much interest he drums up around the league.

Fri Jun 22 201210:03Hornets expected to buy out Rashard Lewis
The Hornets are "expected" to buy out Rashard Lewis and waive him on July 1.
This is the anticipated move following the team's deal acquire Lewis. After the Hornets waive Lewis, the veteran will be free to sign with any interested team assuming nobody picks up his ridiculous contract off of the waiver wire. We can't see a scenario where Lewis gets claimed by any team.

Thu Jun 21 201216:37Hornets to hold off on waiving Rashard Lewis
The Hornets will not waive Rashard Lewis until after the NBA Finals.
New Orleans will have to pay a guaranteed $13.7 million to Rashard, saving them approximately $9 million this season (unloading Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza saved millions more). Mark Deeks of ShamSports.com notes that "Lewis's unguaranteed compensation has no guarantee date, other than the universal league-wide date of January 5th." Theoretically, the Hornets could keep him five more months (perhaps attempting to trade him again) without paying an additional penny.

Wed Jun 20 201214:34Wizards trade Rashard Lewis for Okafor, Ariza
The Wizards have traded Rashard Lewis and the No. 46 pick in the 2012 draft to the Hornets, in exchange for Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza.
Lewis is owed $23.7 million in the final year of his monumental contract, but the Hornets can (and probably will) buy him out for $13.7 million. Meanwhile, Okafor is owed $28 million over the next two years (with a $14.6 million Early Termination Option next summer), while Ariza is owed $14 million over two years (with a $7.7 million player option next summer). The No. 46 pick is little more than a sweetener, but the Hornets now have copious salary cap space and Anthony Davis inbound.

Wed May 30 201209:06Wizards will look to move Lewis, Blatche
The Wizards will look to trade both Rashard Lewis and Andray Blatche before next season, multiple sources tell the Washington Post.
Washington can try, but that doesn't mean the team will find success in doing so. Lewis is owed a whopping $23.7 million in 2012-13, while Blatche's grotesque contract calls for him to be paid more than $22 million through the 2014-15 campaign. The more likely scenario is that the Wizards buy out Lewis for $13.7 million and the team uses its one-time amnesty clause on Blatche.

Sat Apr 21 201210:01Rashard Lewis isn't ready to retire
Rashard Lewis (knee) has likely played his final game for the Wizards, but he said he is "nowhere near the end of [his] career."
"I feel like I'm most definitely in my prime," said Lewis, a bit of delusional grandiosity that we'll dismiss as 'wishful thinking'. Fantasy owners should probably avoid him in next year's drafts, unless he does something very compelling this summer.

Wed Apr 18 201215:33Rashard Lewis (knee) likely done for the year
Rashard Lewis (knees) is likely done for the season.
Lewis hasn't played since the All-Star break, and the Wizards have only two practices remaining in a lost season. The team can save $8.3 million if they buy out his contract for next year, rather than paying him the full $22 million left on his historically bad deal.

Sun Mar 25 201205:00Rashard Lewis out indefinitely w/ sore knee
Rashard Lewis remains out indefinitely with soreness in his right knee and a bone bruise in his left knee.
Lewis is averaging just 7.8 points on sub-40 percent shooting this season, and admits that he was playing poorly when the season began. He's under contract for $22 million next season, or (more likely) the Wizards can spend $13.7 million to buy out his deal.
