Mon Nov 19 201200:07Brandon Roy to have knee surgery this week
Brandon Roy will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week, the seventh knee surgery of his career.
Roy fatefully banged his knee in the Wolves' final preseason game, which led to ongoing soreness and caused him to miss the past four games. His upcoming surgery is another sad if predictable chapter in his NBA career, and could very well signal the end of his season. With Roy and Chase Budinger both out with knee surgeries, the Wolves are forced to rely on rookie Alexey Shved and creaky veteran Josh Howard.

Sun Nov 18 201214:25Brandon Roy (knee) doesn't practice Sunday
Brandon Roy (knee) didn't practice on Sunday.
Roy having knee issues is one of the most dangerous red flags any player could see, so we'd leave him on the wire in almost all leagues until he's able to show us something.

Fri Nov 16 201212:55Brandon Roy remains sidelined by knee injury
Brandon Roy's bum knee will keep him out of the lineup against the Warriors on Friday.
It's clear that Roy's knee issues haven't gone away and it's fair to wonder if he'll be able to contribute on a meaningful level at all this season. He shouldn't be on rosters in most formats at this point and bears watching in only deep leagues despite an injury-ravaged Wolves roster.

Wed Nov 14 201212:18Brandon Roy out Wednesday, hopeful for Friday
Brandon Roy (knee) has been told to rest his ailing right knee and will not play Wednesday against the Bobcats.
Roy is hopeful he will return Friday against the Warriors, but said he doesn't want to rush and risk overcompensating. The Wolves are incredibly banged up and there should be plenty of available minutes when Roy is healthy, but his chronic issues make it a tough sell.

Mon Nov 12 201220:03Adelman hopes to have Roy back on Wednesday
Coach Rick Adelman said he hopes to have Brandon Roy (knee) for Wednesday's contest against the Bobcats.
Roy is expected to practice on Tuesday, so that should be a more telling event than his coach hoping Roy is able to play. It's still going to be very tough to own the former Blazer since there's a very good chance his knee will become sore in the future.

Mon Nov 12 201219:27Brandon Roy (knee) out on Monday vs. Mavs
Brandon Roy (knee) will not play on Monday against the Mavs.
Roy said he "hopes to get a good practice in on (Tuesday)" and that he "intends on playing Wednesday" against the Bobcats. This is a good sign that the injury isn't extremely serious, but it's also a reminder of where he is at physically with his knee. Alexey Shved and Luke Ridnour will play heavy minutes tonight as J.J. Barea and Chase Budinger are out.

Mon Nov 12 201213:16Brandon Roy a game-time decision vs. Mavs
Brandon Roy (knee) has been termed a "game-time decision" for Monday's game vs. the Mavs.
Rick Adelman has stated he's not "overly concerned" about Roy's knee, but we're not buying it. Roy may very well return Monday night, but it appears his knee issues may not be behind him after all. If you were holding out hope on Roy, it's time for owners to part ways.

Sun Nov 11 201210:00Brandon Roy (knee) may return to action soon
Rick Adelman is "not overly concerned" about Brandon Roy's knee injury, and he doesn't expect Roy to miss an extended period of time.
While this is nice to hear, we'll believe it when we see it. It took less than two weeks for Roy's chronically damaged knees to sideline him and the Wolves have reportedly inquired about free agent swingmen in recent days. If you were clinging to Roy in the hopes of a glorious return, this is your signal to move along.

Sat Nov 10 201218:57Brandon Roy (knee) will not play on Saturday
Brandon Roy (knee) will not play against the Bulls on Saturday.
The good news is that he traveled with the team, but he was basically a longshot to play given his injury history with a degenerative knee issue. Owners in standard leagues should probably pick up another player. Chase Budinger picked up extra minutes at shooting guard and makes sense as a pickup in some formats.

Fri Nov 9 201222:56Roy (knee) to travel with team to Chicago
Brandon Roy (knee) will travel with the Wolves to Chicago for Saturday's game against the Bulls.
Roy apparently bumped knees in the same spot he had previously suffered a bumped knee, and beat writer Jerry Zgoda said that Rick Adelman didn't seem concerned about the injury. Even if this is a maintenance-style absence, it should serve as enough warning to owners that there are more (and bigger) fish in the sea.

Fri Nov 9 201221:41Roy out for the night with right knee injury
Brandon Roy left Friday's game during the first half and did not return after re-injuring his right knee.
We don't know the severity, but it wasn't hard to see this coming. Hopefully for Roy's sake this is more of a maintenance decision and not our worst fears. Owners that were holding on for hope can probably make the drop.

Tue Nov 6 201200:59Roy has another slow night vs. the Nets
Brandon Roy scored six points on 3-of-7 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds and seven assists in 29 minutes of action on Monday against the Nets.
It's hard to say whether or not a guy in Roy's position needs a few games to get his groove on, or if we're seeing the early returns from a guy that will fade in and out of the box score due to a lack of explosion. Considering the injury risk he has, we're not advising owners to hold at the expense of any free agents with relatively solid outlooks. Think of Roy as a roster stash for the hopes he's dealing with scenario No. 1.

Sun Nov 4 201220:39Brandon Roy awful as Wolves lose to Raptors
Brandon Roy struggled badly vs. the Raptors, finishing Sunday's road loss with four points on 0-of-3 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs, with one rebound and five turnovers in 22 minutes.
The guy is coming out of retirement and some rough nights are expected, but as long as his knees hold up he should work his way back into a groove. It seems the Wolves would ideally play him 30 minutes per game, making him a decent stash in most leagues.

Sat Nov 3 201206:02Roy (knee) returns to basketball vs. Kings
Brandon Roy made his comeback complete with a return to regular season action on Friday in the Wolves' 92-80 win against the Kings, scoring 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting (0-for-5 from deep) with five rebounds, six assists, and one steal in 30 minutes.
The shooting line is a small buzzkill, but just seeing him on the court and being productive is pretty cool from a fan's perspective. He said after the game that his knee felt good other than "some cramping," and the takeaway here is that he'll be a late-to-mid round value at times while carrying an inordinate amount of injury risk.

Thu Nov 1 201213:44Brandon Roy looks good, will play Friday
Brandon Roy (knee) is "looking good" and will play on Friday.
Roy bumped knees in practice with a teammate earlier in the week, and while the T-Wolves were being cautious given his injury history, he's clearly fine. If you own Roy, get him in your lineup as Rick Adelman has said that he is targeting between 30-32 minutes per game for him.

Wed Oct 31 201208:51T-Wolves to give Brandon Roy 30-32 minutes
The Timberwolves are planning for Brandon Roy to play 30-32 minutes per game this season.
That's an awful lot of minutes for a guy who was forced to walk away from the game last season due to chronic knee issues, but it's clear that the T-Wolves will throw Roy into the fire right away. "We've talked about it...how long can he sit without getting stiff," Rick Adelman said. Owners need to be aware that Roy's body is nowhere near a sure thing to hold up all year.

Mon Oct 29 201215:10Brandon Roy (knee) held out on Monday
Brandon Roy was held out of Monday's practice after "bumping knees" with another player, but he is expected to practice and scrimmage on Tuesday.
Although it seems Roy avoided any lasting damage, this is a good reminder that the health of his knees is extremely tenuous -- he made it through training camp and the preseason, but an 82-game season is another matter entirely. He remains a prime risk vs. reward pick in the final rounds.

Thu Oct 25 201200:51Brandon Roy has another subpar game
Brandon Roy scored six points on 2-of-8 shooting, adding three assists, two steals and two rebounds in 26 minutes Wednesday.
Roy got the start again but struggled shooting the ball for the second straight game. He's an intriguing fantasy option given his elite history, but is more likely a late-round selection at this point.

Wed Oct 17 201200:48Roy keeps turning heads in preseason
Brandon Roy started at shooting guard and scored 19 points, grabbed four boards and hit two triples in 25 minutes on Tuesday.
Roy's ADP will continue to rise with games like these and justifiably so. He held second-round value in his prime just a few seasons ago, but a lot has changed since then. He carries a lot of risk and he should still be going off the board near the end of your draft.
