Tue Sep 7 201019:31Rookie Washington earns starting job
Second-rounder Daryl Washington has been named the starter at inside linebacker next to Paris Lenon.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt is loath to start rookies, but Washington gave him no choice after clearly outplaying the competition in exhibition action. Considering his impressive speed and tackling ability, Washington should prove to be a fine successor to Karlos Dansby.

Rookie ILB Daryl Washington will start the Cardinals' third preseason game in place of Pago Tagofau.
The Cards are just now getting around to creating their depth chart. A highly impressive second-round pick, Washington appears to have passed Togafau and Monty Beisel as the favorite to start adjacent to Paris Lenon. Ideally, Lenon will go to the bench when Gerald Hayes (back surgery) returns.

Cardinals rookie LB Daryl Washington was credited with a game-high 13 tackles in Saturday's preseason opener.
Washington entered the game as a third-stringer, but he got his head coach's attention. "He showed up," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "When you have the speed he has and can make plays, it's all about getting him reps." Paris Lenon and Monty Beisel started for the Cards.

Fri Jul 30 201013:38Cardinals sign second-round LB Washington
Cardinals signed No. 47 overall pick LB Daryl Washington to a four-year contract.
The Cardinals had designs on easing the former TCU star into a nickel linebacker role. With Gerald Hayes' back injury on top of Karlos Dansby's exit to Miami, though, Washington could start the season next to veteran Paris Lenon on the inside. The Cardinals hope he can develop into the sideline-to-sideline, three-down successor to Dansby.
