BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have placed second baseman Dustin Pedroia on the 10-day injured list with left knee irritation.The 35-year-old Pedroia started the season on the injured list with inflammation in his left knee. He was reinstated April 9 and appeared in four games with Boston, making four starts at second base and two as a designated hitter and going 2 for 20 (.100) with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.To fill Pedroia's spot, Boston is recalling right-handed pitcher Marcus Walden from Triple-A Pawtucket ahead of Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.Walden has appeared in five games this season. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA. Walden has been released by the Reds, Baseball America reports.
The 26-year-old Walden made just one start for Double-A Carolina, surrendering four runs over three innings. He showed little promise with Triple-A Sacramento in the A's organization last season, posting a 5.73 ERA, 5.43 FIP, 5.1 K/9 and 4.1 BB/9 over 11 starts (59.2 innings).

Walden signed a minor league deal with the Reds, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
Walden struggled in 2014, posting a 5.35 ERA with a 61:43 K:BB ratio splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A. The 26-year-old could still eventually work his way up to the majors, but he'll start next season back in the minors.
