Doumit's agent, Paul Cobbe, has confirmed the report, though particulars aren't available at this time. The 31-year-old is making $3 million this season on a one-year deal and has had a pretty nice year, batting .271/.332/.443 with seven homers and 32 RBI over 59 games. He's an injury risk but is a good hitter when healthy.

"He felt it a little bit last night," said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire. "He's been legging out some doubles and we told him to take it nice and easy, but you know, once you get playing in a game and you see something, you're going to go for it. So he was little bit stiffer last night after the game. I backed him off today." Doumit has served as the DH twice since injuring the calf last Wednesday and will likely be evaluated on a day-to-day basis for now.

Not surprising. It had looked like Doumit was headed for the disabled list, but the Twins have decided to hold off. He's not ready to start just yet but thinks he'll be available for DH duty starting next Tuesday. "Best-case scenario is ... I'll be ready to DH or do something like that [Tuesday], the first game in Chicago, so that's what I'm hoping for," Doumit said.
