Through three contests Morse is batting .250 (3-for-12) with five strikeouts and no extra base hits.

Morse had a great spring training, slashing .347/.429/.673 with five home runs in 19 games, but it hasn't translated to regular season production through the first two games as he's just 1-for-8 with five strikeouts. It's just a two game sample though, and Morse figures to continue to bat fourth in the lineup, providing needed protection for Giancarlo Stanton.

Morse went 1-for-3 with an RBI Friday batting out of the cleanup spot in a win over the Cardinals.

Morse has been swinging a hot stick this spring, knocking five hits in 13 at-bats with a double and a home run. Morse is impressing in his audition to function as Giancarlo Stanton's protection in an improved Miami lineup and figures to have ample opportunity to drive in runs this season, particularly if he continues to hit out of the fourth spot in the lineup.

Morse has a greed to a two-year deal with the Marlins, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

The agreement has been confirmed by Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, and it is currently pending a physical. Morse offers right-handed pop for the Marlins, and he'll likely project as a regular option at first base while losing the occasional start against tough righties to Garrett Jones.

The Marlins are reportedly close to signing Morse, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

The Marlins have Garrett Jones available to play first base against right-handed pitching, but it's possible that Jones' playing time against righties will be scaled back, especially since the Marlins have so much talent in the outfield with Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, and Giancarlo Stanton covering the three starting spots as everyday players.
