Fri Jun 20 201411:56Shane Larkin hoping for more two-PG lineups
Shane Larkin is hopeful that the Mavericks use more two point guard lineups next season.
"[The Spurs] had Patty Mills and Tony Parker out there at the same time," Larkin said. "They were out there causing havoc. Patty was picking up full court, being a little pest and getting under everybody's skin, hitting big shots." If he wants to become anything close to Mills, Larkin will have to improve his 31.6 percent from downtown from his rookie season. He didn't get to play in summer league last year due to a broken ankle, but will try again this year.

Tue Jun 10 201416:19Shane Larkin focused on lane penetration
Mavs PG Shane Larkin acknowledged that to earn a bigger role next season he must "get in the lane and create for others."
The 5'11" guard averaged 2.8 points on 38.0 percent shoting last season, but his quickness is intriguing for Mavs coach Rick Carlisle. "We need speed on this team," Carlisle said. "We need playmaking ability, we need lane penetration, we need defense and we need scoring, and I think [Larkin] can help us in all those areas."

Tue May 27 201419:47Shane Larkin headed back to Las Vegas
Shane Larkin will play in Las Vegas Summer League in July.
Last year, his trip to Vegas did not go well. He broke his ankle even before the games started, which delayed his NBA debut. Larkin showed some promise in his rookie season, but he's still a long way from being a consistent player off the bench.

Sun Mar 23 201423:01Shane Larkin joins rotation w/ Calderon out
Shane Larkin played 13 minutes after Jose Calderon left Sunday's game with a facial injury, and Dallas' rookie PG finished with five points and one assist.
Fellow rookie Gal Mekel is still dealing with swelling and pain in his knee, so if Calderon misses any games it will be Devin Harris and Larkin sharing PG duties. Nothing about Larkin's rookie campaign or coach Rick Carlisle's rotations suggest that there will be fantasy value to be found here, especially with the Mavs in the midst of a playoff chase.

Fri Feb 28 201412:45Larkin, Crowder, James all back with Mavs
Mavs recalled Shane Larkin, Jae Crowder and Bernard James from the Texas Legends.
The trio made the quick trip to the D-League to get some burn on Thursday night. Now they're back and available for Friday night's home game against the Bulls. None are part of the rotation with Brandan Wright, Devin Harris, Vince Carter and Wayne Ellington hogging bench minutes for Rick Carlisle.

Thu Feb 27 201415:49Larkin, Crowder, James head to D-League
Shane Larkin, Jae Crowder and Bernard James have been assigned to the Texas Legends for Thursday's game.
They're not a significant part of the Mavs' rotation at the moment and the quick trip to the D-League will at least keep them game-ready. All three guys should be recalled on Friday and this doesn't have fantasy implications.

Mon Feb 3 201419:08Shane Larkin could miss Monday night's game
Shane Larkin has a stomach bug and could miss Monday's game against the Cavs.
The Mavericks have seen this stomach bug go around the locker room a little bit and they're likely just going to sit Larkin tonight. Devin Harris may have a better game with a few extra minutes of playing time.

Sun Feb 2 201423:28Mavs coach on Shane Larkin: 'He needs work'
The Mavericks recently assigned rookie PG Shane Larkin to the D-League because "he needs work," according to coach Rick Carlisle.
"You saw how he played the other night. It didn't go well," Carlisle said. "We just need Shane and Ricky [Ledo] and all our young guys to always have an edge and always be as competitive as possible." Larkin has fallen out of the picture with Devin Harris healthy, and he's obviously not in favor with Carlisle, so there's no reason to touch him in any leagues.

Sun Jan 19 201402:52Shane Larkin plays well off the bench
Shane Larkin played 23 minutes off the bench on Saturday during a 127-111 loss with nine points, two boards, four assists, one steal and one turnover.
Garbage time was a bit of a factor, but Larkin still looked good in his time out there. He's been able to get around defenders for the most part and has a solid offensive efficiency rating of 108, which ranks in the top 10 among point guards logging at least 11 minutes per game. That said, Larkin is only a stash in deep leagues.

Sat Jan 18 201402:01Shane Larkin scores 18 points vs. Phoenix
Shane Larkin scored a career-high 18 points against the Suns on Friday with one board, five assists, two steals and two 3-pointers on 6-of-8 shooting.
He put up nine in the final frame and really injected some life into the offense. Larkin has been impressive in a handful of games in which he's seen extended minutes, so it's not a bad idea to pick him up on a speculative basis with Jose Calderon (knee) suffering a contusion tonight. He has the total package for a fantasy point guard with contribution in triples, points and assists while the Mavericks also take plenty of chances on D with their league-leading steal totals.

Wed Jan 15 201414:38Shane Larkin goes through shootaround
Shane Larkin (left ankle) went through shootaround on Wednesday.
His status is still not clear for Wednesday night, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Mavs keep him out of the lineup. Larkin had offseason left ankle surgery and doesn't play too often when the team is healthy.

Mon Jan 13 201418:57Shane Larkin doubtful for Monday night
Shane Larkin (ankle) is doubtful for Monday's game vs. Orlando.
It's good news that the Mavs aren't ruling him out after spraining his ankle in Saturday. Larkin needed surgery on his left ankle in the summer, but he's just a backup for the Mavs.

Sun Jan 12 201410:44Shane Larkin (ankle) hopes to play Monday
Mavericks rookie Shane Larkin wasn't very concerned after spraining his ankle on Saturday, and he's hopeful to play vs. the Magic on Monday.
"It's just a sprain," Larkin said. "I'll come in and get treatment tomorrow and hopefully will be good after that." Gal Mekel will step into the backup PG job if Larkin can't suit up, and both rookies face an impending challenge with Devin Harris (toe) targeting a return within the next two weeks.

Sun Jan 12 201402:47Shane Larkin suffers ankle sprain
Shane Larkin suffered a right ankle sprain in Saturday's win over the Pelicans.
This is the same ankle Larkin had surgically repaired over the summer. Hopefully the severity isn't as bad and it's a good sign he was able to walk back to the locker room under his own power. If he misses time, Gal Mekel would become the main backup point guard.

Sat Jan 11 201422:31Shane Larkin suffers groin injury
Shane Larkin limped to the locker room due to an apparent groin injury.
He was in a lot of pain as he went to the locker room. Larkin had been in the rotation a little with the Mavericks needing some bodies, but he'll likely lose playing time once Shawn Marion is back and the team can play Vince Carter more at shooting guard.

Sat Nov 30 201301:46Shane Larkin could be in for big minutes
Shane Larkin had four turnovers and four missed shots in nine minutes on Friday, but he could be in for a larger workload if Jose Calderon misses any time with his ankle injury.
Calderon said he wants to play on Saturday against the Wolves but he can't put any weight on the ankle, so it's hard to believe him. Larkin has been much better than this in most of his games, and he's worth an add for spot-start or even speculative short-term play. Gal Mekel (four minutes) could also end up splitting point guard duties if Calderon is out.

Thu Nov 28 201300:08Shane Larkin hands out six dimes vs. GSW
Shane Larkin handed out six assists against the Warriors on Wednesday to go with seven points, one steal and no turnovers in 17 minutes.
He's playing very well in his young career and his six dimes set a career high. The Mavs' second unit was terrific and they had a hand in pulling out a big win at home. Larkin is eating into Jose Calderon's minutes a little, but it won't be easy to pick him up in non-deep leagues unless Calderon has to miss time.

Sat Nov 23 201303:35Larkin plays 15 minutes against Jazz
Shane Larkin played just 15 minutes on Friday, scoring two points on 1-of-2 shooting with one rebound, one assist and two steals.
Larkin created a small amount of buzz on Wednesday but this is a proper dose of reality to put things in perspective. He's going to go through the same rookie speed bumps everybody else does, and he'll slowly improve his minimal value as the year goes along. And if Jose Calderon gets knocked out due to injury, all of you will be ready to pick him up. He's a little bit of a stat magnet.

Thu Nov 21 201303:58Shane Larkin scores eight points vs. Houston
It didn't take Shane Larkin long to make an impact in his NBA career on Wednesday, scoring eight points in his second game with four rebounds, two assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 17 minutes.
"We need speed in the lineup," coach Rick Carlisle said. "We're old and we're slow and that's not a good combination." The rookie did have four turnovers, but he injected a lot of life into the Mavericks to help them pull of an impressive comeback after giving up 101 points in the first three quarters. If Larkin keeps playing like this, he could find himself getting minutes in the 20s. He's on the radar in deeper leagues.
