Updating a previous report, Ranaudo was optioned to Low-A Greenville on Saturday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Greenville's season concluded Monday, meaning Ranaudo will return to the Red Sox in time for Wednesday's scheduled start against the Yankees in New York. In three nods this season, he's 3-0 with a 4.50 ERA, 1.389 WHIP, and seven strikeouts versus eight walks in 18 innings.

Ranaudo was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
With roster expansion nigh, the Red Sox can afford to send down the starter and keep an infielder, Carlos Rivero, in the short term. In Friday's nod against the Rays, Ranuado gave up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four in six frames. Expect him to hold down a spot in the major league rotation with nothing to play for over the final month.

Ranaudo got the job done Friday night, allowing three runs on five hits, walking three and striking out four over six innings as the Red Sox downed Tampa Bay 8-4.
Recently named the International League's Pitcher of the Year, Ranaudo is the Red Sox top pitching prospect and is using the last couple of months of 2014 to be ready to take a regular turn in the Boston rotation next season. Ranaudo (3-0, 4.50 ERA) primarily needs to hone his command of the strike zone when he faces the Yankees in New York next time out.

The Red Sox recalled Ranaudo from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Ranaudo will jump right into the Red Sox's rotation and start Friday night against the Rays. Ranaudo gave up six earned runs over 12 innings (4.50 ERA) in two starts with the Red Sox earlier this season, but he did pick up the win each outing.
Thu Aug 28 201412:09Ranaudo will be recalled to start Friday against Rays
Ranaudo will be recalled to start Friday against the Rays, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
It was generally assumed that Ranaudo would get the call to oppose Chris Archer on Friday after Brandon Workman was demoted earlier in the week, but the Red Sox confirmed as much Thursday. While Ranaudo has given up six runs while fanning three over 12 innings with the big club, his strong numbers at Triple-A Pawtucket (2.61 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) should at least put him in the conversation in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Ranaudo was named the International League's most valuable pitcher, the Boston Globe reports.
The 24-year-old right-hander is 14-4 with a 2.61 earned run average in 24 starts with Triple-A Pawtucket. Ranaudo, who last pitched Sunday, is in line for a callup to start Friday night's game against the Rays.

Ranaudo will likely get called up to fill Brandon Workman's spot in the starting rotation for Thursday's start against the Rays, the Boston Herald reports.
Right now all the Red Sox are saying is that someone will be called up to make the start, and that the team won't push up anyone on short rest. Ranaudo has been up with the team earlier this year, however, and has pitched well at Triple-A Pawtucket, posting a 2.61 ERA over 138 innings.
Thu Aug 14 201415:37Ranaudo optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday
Ranaudo was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
Ranaudo acquitted himself well during his two-start run with the Red Sox, but he'll cede his rotation spot to Brandon Workman after he was tagged for four runs over six innings Wednesday afternoon. Expect Ranaudo to rejoin the major league squad in September.

Ranaudo allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out one in six innings in Wednesday's win over the Reds. He picked up his second win for Boston, but he wasn't as sharp in this start.
Ranaudo didn't have his best stuff -- there were several hard hit balls including two homers, a triple and a double -- but the young starter was not overwhelmed. He was essentially filling in for Brandon Workman (rest) and we presume he'll be shipped back to Triple-A.

Ranaudo will be recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket in order to start Wednesday at Cincinnati, Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports.
Ranaudo has twirled three consecutive quality starts at the Red Sox's top affiliate, going 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA, 1.158 WHIP, and 13:6 K:BB in 19 innings. There's always worry when a starter takes the mound in the launching pad that is Great American Ballpark, but the combination of the Reds' middle-of-the-pack ISO (.131) and Ranaudo's 0.50 HR/9 at Pawtucket this season bodes well for the right-hander's prospects Wednesday.

Ranaudo credits an adjustment to his windup about two months ago in the improved command of his fastball, WEEI.com reports. Before the windup tweak, Ranaudo had been walking 5.06 batters per nine innings. After the tweak, he improved to 2.11 walks per nine.
He didn't have the improved command when he made his major league debut Friday night -- he walked four men in six innings (three of them led off innings) and was over the plate on just 53 of 91 pitches. But he feels the enhanced command in the minors made him more confident with his overall arsenal.

Ranaudo will be optioned back to Triple-A Pawtucket after winning his big league debut Friday night, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
Joe Kelly will take Ranaudo's place on the roster, but the rookie could return at some point during the final two months of the season if the Red Sox want to get an extended look at him with the hope that he'll be ready to take on a rotation spot to begin 2015. Ranaudo allowed two runs on four hits over six innings in his debut Friday night against the Yankees.

Ranaudo made his major league debut a winning one, allowing two runs on four hits, walking four and striking out two over six innings of a 4-3 win against the Yankees on Friday night.
He struggled a bit with his command, tossing 91 pitches (just 53 for strikes), but he stepped up when he had to while keeping the Yankees in check. His Triple-A numbers suggest he could sometimes have trouble finding the plate (49 walks in 119.1 innings), but he is the best pitching prospect in the Red Sox system and should get plenty of opportunity to display his stuff over the next couple of months.

Ranaudo will be called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to start Friday's game against the Yankees, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
Thursday's trades of Jon Lester and John Lackey netted one starting pitcher in Joe Kelly, so Ranaudo will be called upon to fill the remaining void in the rotation. The 24-year-old Ranaudo has been superb with Pawtucket this season, notching a 2.41 ERA and 99:49 K:BB over 119.1 innings. With a strong showing in his major league debut Friday, he could be tabbed for a permanent stay in the Boston rotation, likely bumping Brandon Workman or Allen Webster to long relief.
Wed Jul 30 201417:42Ranaudo's start for Triple-A Pawtucket moved to Friday night
Ranaudo's start for Triple-A Pawtucket has been moved to Friday night, which gives the Red Sox an option to replace John Lackey in the rotation if he is dealt before Thursday's deadline, the Providence Journal's Tim Britton reports.
He was originally scheduled to take the mound Thursday at noon, so this gives Boston a buffer between the trade deadline and Ranaudo's next start. His 2.41 ERA at Triple-A is impressive, but his 99:49 K:BB ratio in 119.1 innings doesn't bode well for his chances of being an effective big-starter, at least not right away.
Tue Jul 1 201411:20Red Sox prospect Ranaudo tosses 7 shutout IP
Red Sox right-handed pitching prospect Anthony Ranaudo threw seven shutout innings for Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday, scattering three hits and two walks while striking out five.
Ranaudo has held batters to a .163/.228/.244 line in June, striking out 28 batters in six starts over 36 2/3 innings. He may be next in line for a promotion to Boston, and could be a solid No. 4 starter right away, with the potential to be a No. 3 starter down the line.

Sun Jun 15 201410:26Red Sox RHP prospect Ranaudo fans four
Red Sox right-handed pitching prospect struck out four batters as part of 5 2/3 shutout innings on Saturday.
Ranaudo threw 62 of his 96 pitches for strikes (64.6%), scattering four hits and a walk. Unlike his last start, which included some good hitters, the Charlotte Knights lineup is weak for International League standard. However, Randaudo has pitched much better over his past two starts, and could be the next pitcher up if the Red Sox need another starter.

Sat Jun 7 201410:06Red Sox RHP prospect Ranaudo tosses 7 shutout
Red Sox right-handed pitching prospect dominated with seven shout innings, scattering two hits and striking out seven batters for Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday.
After an uneven start to the season, Ranaudo has dominated as of late, holding batters to a .183/.268/.266 line over his past five starts, striking out 27 batters over 31 1/3 innings. He shut down a lineup that included former major leaguers Mike Fontenot (0-for-3, 2 Ks against Ranaudo) and Jayson Nix (0-for-2), as well as prospect Mikie Mahtook (0-for-3, 2 Ks). Ranaudo lacks the star projection that he once possessed, but he could be a solid #4 starter and could see time in Boston later this summer.

Tue May 6 201409:59Red Sox RHP prospect Ranaudo has uneven start
Red Sox right-handed pitching prospect Anthony Ranaudo had an uneven start on Monday for Triple-A Pawtucket, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks.
Ranaudo allowed only one single and two walks through five scoreless innings, but he imploded in the sixth, allowing two walks and a double and was unable to record an out. After a dominant 2013, Ranaudo looked like he could be the first pitcher called up for the Red Sox, but he is unlikely to be called up unless he can improve his performance. He has a 4.01 ERA and a 1.545 WHIP for the season.

Wed Apr 30 201412:29Ranaudo turns in five scoreless frames
Red Sox prospect RHP Anthony Ranaudo turned in his best start of the season Tuesday, striking out seven batters in five scoreless innings for Triple-A Pawtucket.
The 24-year-old allowed a pair of hits and walks, and he was credited with a shutout after the game was called due to rain after 5 « innings. Ranaudo struggled his last time out, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks in only three innings against Rochester, but bounced back with one of his best starts of the season Tuesday. While he doesn't profile as an impact starter, Ranaudo provides the Red Sox with rotation depth in the high minors and should receive his first taste of the major leagues later this season.
