Sun Apr 10 201116:44Lopez hits a three-run homer in win
Jose Lopez's three-run homer in the first inning was the difference in Colorado's 6-5 win over the Pirates on Sunday.
The homer was his second in a Rockies uniform, and first on the road. Lopez figures to post some pretty disparate home/road splits this season, which could limit his value in deeper mixed leagues.

Fri Apr 1 201120:38Lopez homers in loss to Diamondbacks
Jose Lopez homered and drove in two runs in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Lopez had a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh. He looked pretty bad at the plate during Cactus League play, but we think he could thrive playing half of his games in the hitter-friendly Coors Field. He's not a bad sleeper option in NL-only and deeper mixed formats, especially when he gains eligibility at second base.

Fri Apr 1 201112:00Jose Lopez in Opening Day lineup
Jose Lopez is playing second base and hitting seventh in the Rockies' Opening Day lineup.
There was an outside shot that Jonathan Herrera might get the call for the opener, but Lopez has been viewed as the likely starter at second all along. Herrera does figure to get a start or two per week, and the Rox appear willing to deal Lopez if the opportunity presents itself.

Thu Mar 31 201110:31Rockies open to offers for Jose Lopez
According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Rockies are open to offers for Jose Lopez.
The Rox aren't engaging in trade talks at the moment and probably won't deal Lopez until they see how he opens the season. If he gets off to a nice start and shows some power at Coors Field, they may just keep him and give him regular starts at second base. Jonathan Herrera would be the option at second if he's moved.

Sat Mar 26 201101:29Rockies' Lopez knocks in two runs
Jose Lopez went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI against the Rangers on Friday.
Lopez could use a few more big days in order to secure a starting job in the Colorado infield. He's believed to be available in trade talks because of the strong play of Jonathan Herrera.

Thu Mar 24 201115:51Report: Jose Lopez drawing trade interest
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that that the Rockies are drawing trade interest in Jose Lopez.
The Rockies would be dealing from a position of strength, as they could go with Ty Wigginton and Jonathan Herrera at second base. Lopez, who was acquired from the Mariners in December, is set to earn $3.6 million this season.

Fri Feb 4 201120:37Report: Rox offering Lopez for Young
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rockies are offering Jose Lopez to the Rangers in a trade proposal for Michael Young.
It's not clear who else, if anyone, would be involved in the deal. If it's just Lopez, it would be purely a salary dump trade for the Rangers, as Young is due $16 million each of the next three years and Lopez, while he is owed $3.6 million next season, doesn't have a guaranteed contract. The Rangers could cut him loose and owe him only $600,000. The problem, though, is that the Rockies can't afford to pay Young that much, so the Rangers will have to eat some money in order for a deal to be consummated. The Rox claim to have received "mixed messages" from the Rangers as to whether they even want to trade Young. Young has a limited no-trade clause that does not include the Rockies, but he will be able to veto any deal starting in May, when he earns his 10-and-5 status.

Thu Dec 2 201022:40Rockies acquire infielder Jose Lopez from M's
Rockies acquired INF Jose Lopez from the Mariners for RHP Chaz Roe.
Roe did not post good numbers at the Triple-A level in 2010, but he's only 24 years old and has a far more promising future than Lopez, who finished with a .266/.297/.400 batting line this past season and was going to be non-tendered before Thursday's deadline. Maybe a change of scenery will help the 27-year-old Lopez. He does have a decent power stroke for an infielder and should rack up a few more dingers while playing half of his games at Coors Field. He is likely to steal time at second base from Eric Young Jr.

Wed Dec 1 201012:36M's to non-tender infielder Jose Lopez
Mike Salk of Seattle's 710 ESPN reports that the Mariners are going to non-tender infielder Jose Lopez.
It shouldn't come as a surprise. Lopez earned $2.3 million in 2010 and would have gained a substantial raise this winter via the arbitration process. He will hit the free agent market as a 27-year-old with a .266/.297/.400 batting line and poor range on the infield. It may be a rough road for him.

Wed Nov 3 201015:52M's decline option on Jose Lopez
Mariners declined 3B Jose Lopez's $4.5 million option for 2011.
Lopez gets a $250,000 buyout from the club. He is arbitration-eligible this winter, but the Mariners are expected to non-tender him in December. Lopez, who turns 27 later this month, batted just .239/.270/.339 with 10 homers and 58 RBI in 593 at-bats this past season.

Fri Oct 1 201009:24Lopez (finger) would like to DH this weekend
Jose Lopez (finger) said he would like to return as the designated hitter against the Athletics this weekend.
"I think that might be a little optimistic on his part," said Mariners interim manager Daren Brown. "We'll see how he feels. He won't take [batting practice] today. He's still wearing the splint. It's black and blue. Playing the field won't happen. I will give him the benefit of the doubt, if he feels good about playing DH Saturday or Sunday, we'll see how he feels tomorrow." Lopez hasn't played since leaving Tuesday's game with a dislocated right middle finger.

Jose Lopez (finger) said he hopes to return against the Athletics this weekend.

Tue Sep 28 201023:04Lopez has dislocated right middle finger
Jose Lopez was diagnosed with a dislocated right middle finger.
Lopez suffered the injury while attempting to field a groundball in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game. If he's done for the season, this will likely be the end of the road for him in Seattle. His contract includes a $4.5 million club option for next season or a $250,000 buyout.

Tue Aug 31 201016:27Report: Rockies interested in Jose Lopez
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Rockies are interested in Jose Lopez.
Ian Stewart was placed on the disabled list with strained ribcage on Monday, so the Rockies are apparently looking for another infielder. Lopez has had a miserable season, batting just .241 with seven homers, 48 RBI and a 605 OPS, but could slot in at third base. There's a $250,000 buyout on his $4.5 million option for next season.

Sun Aug 1 201014:45Lopez not in the lineup again Sunday
Jose Lopez (hamstring) is not in the lineup again Sunday.
He hasn't played since leaving Tuesday's game with the ailment. Manager Don Wakamatsu said he is anticipating Lopez's return sometime on the team's upcoming homestand, which begins Tuesday. That's a pretty broad timetable considering it's a nine-game homestand, but at least it sounds like Lopez will avoid the DL.

Tue Jul 27 201020:48Jose Lopez pulled during second inning
Jose Lopez exited Tuesday's game against the White Sox in the second inning with a tight left hamstring.
It's easy to think trade at this time of year, but that's not the case here. Lopez was replaced by Josh Wilson at third base to begin the bottom of the second inning. He is currently listed as day-to-day.

Sun Jul 18 201019:06M's Lopez pushes M's past Angels in extras
Jose Lopez was 2-for-5 with a go-ahead RBI single in a 2-1 win over the Angels in 10 innings on Sunday.
After Franklin Gutierrez stole second base, Lopez delivered with a two-out RBI single off Kevin Jepsen to push the M's ahead. It was Lopez's second straight multi-hit game. With a .243 batting average to go along with six homers and 39 RBI, we're still patiently waiting for him to be relevant in mixed leagues again.
Sun Jul 11 201003:13Mariners' Lopez hits second grand slam
Jose Lopez hit his second career grand slam Saturday in the Mariners' defeat of the Yankees.
Lopez's hit off Joba Chamberlain gave Seattle its only runs of the night. Lopez hasn't been good at any point this season, but he has managed to get a little better each month. He had a 545 OPS in April, a 580 OPS in May and a 683 OPS in June. So far this month, he's at 696.
