Cubs prospect outfielder Brett Jackson has been shut down from the Arizona Fall League after being hospitalized with a bacterial infection in his right shin.

The injury is being compared to a staph infection. He is expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday. Jackson went 3-for-12 with a double and five RBI over four games with the Mesa Solar Sox. The 22-year-old outfield prospect batted .297/.395/.493 with 12 homers, 66 RBI and 23 steals in 491 at-bats between High-A Daytona and Double-A Tennessee this season. He still strikes out more often than you'd like to see, but he's coming along quite nicely.
