Schafer got another start and went 2-for-3 with a run scored, one RBI, a walk, and a stolen base in a losing effort against Oakland on Saturday night.
Claimed just a week ago off of waivers, he batted ninth but contributed across the stat sheet. He's only hitting .185 on the year, but he has 18 swipes so he could be a source of cheap steals if he continues to get playing time.

Schafer started in center field and batted ninth Wednesday against the Padres. He went 1-for-4 with a stolen base, his second in two days.
Schafer is a light hitter, but could be a really good source of stolen bases over the last two months if you can stomach a potentially low average with poor power.

Schafer will officially join the 25-man roster in advance of Tuesday's game. Fri Aug 1 201414:57Jordan Schafer: Designated For Assignment
The Braves designated Schafer for assignment Friday.
Emilio Bonifacio was acquired from the Cubs prior to Thursday's deadline, and thus Schafer became expendable. The 27-year-old's opportunities with Atlanta this season were few and far between, and he hit just .163/.256/.213, but Schafer did some damage against right-handers last season (.265/.355/.380) and can wreak some havoc on the basepaths, so it's be a surprise if he passed through waivers unclaimed.
Fri Aug 1 201413:32The Braves are expected to designate Schafer for assignment
The Braves are expected to designate Schafer for assignment, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Although the move is not yet official, the Braves will need to clear a couple roster spots for Emilio Bonifacio and James Russell, whom they acquired from the Cubs on Thursday. Thus, Schafer will likely be DFA'd and Chasen Shreve optioned. Schafer will almost certainly garner interest on waivers, because while he's struggled this season, he has plus speed and hit .265/.355/.380 in 233 plate appearances against right-handed pitching last season.

He finished the afternoon 0-for-1, with a pair of walks and a sacrifice. While he plays a tremendous center field and runs exceptionally well, he's hitting a troublesome .176/.253/.235 on the season to go along with his 14 stolen bases.

Sat Mar 1 201417:33Jordan Schafer goes 3-for-3
Jordan Schafer went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk versus the Nationals on Saturday.
While the Braves are certainly hoping B.J. Upton bounces back this year, they do have Schafer available as a decent fallback, assuming he can stay healthy. He hit .247/.331/.346 and stole 22 bases in 231 at-bats after rejoining the team last year.

Sun Sep 8 201309:21Jordan Schafer (quad) fine to play
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Saturday that Jordan Schafer (back, quad) is fine to play.
Schafer has dealt with back and quad ailments over the past week, but that's not the reason for his absence from Saturday's lineup. Gonzalez noted that Kyle Kendrick has been better against left-handed hitters this season, and he also indicated that he'd prefer cutting back on Schafer's playing time. "I think Schafe is a valuable piece and a valuable player and if we play him like we did April May and half of June, I think he'll be fine," said Gonzalez.
