Wed May 25 202213:51Jesse Winker Back In Leadoff Spot
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker is in left field and batting leadoff for the second straight game on Wednesday against Oakland Athletics right-hander Paul Blackburn. Winker went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in the leadoff spot on Tuesday, and he's been better in May with a .258/.295/.382 slash line, two home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in 23 games for Seattle. His overall line of .219/.310/.300 with two homers and 16 RBI isn't anything to write home about, but if Winker continues to swing the bat well, he could continue to hit leadoff for the M's against right-handed pitchers.

Wed May 18 202213:40Jesse Winker Extends Hitting Streak To Nine Games
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker singled in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, extending his hitting streak to nine games. It was his only hit in four at-bats. After struggling to a .169/.326/.197 slash line in April, Winker has picked his production up considerably and he now carries a .226/.325/.323 line with two homers in 153 plate appearances. Fantasy managers will want to see more pop from the lefty slugger, but as long as he's maintaining his signature strong eye at the plate, he's bound to put better swings on the ball, and he's due for a little luck with a .250 BABIP which sits well below his career .307 mark.

Wed Apr 20 202209:21Jesse Winker Draws Two Walks On Tuesday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored in the team's 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. The 28-year-old is off to a slow start to his Mariners career. Over 11 games this year, he's slashing just .143/.362/.143 and he's still searching for his first extra-base hit. As usual, he's been plagued by his struggles against lefties. He's gone 0-for-8 against southpaws this year. On the bright side, his plate discipline has been as good as ever with a 10.6% strikeout rate (92nd percentile) and a 25.5% walk rate (99th percentile). Fantasy managers should avoid selling low on Winker, who has been known to have cold streaks across his career. Hopefully, he'll pick things up soon.

Sat Mar 26 202221:44Jesse Winker Takes Reps At First Base
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker wore a first baseman's glove and fielded grounders from infield coach Perry Hill on Sunday, according to Ryan Divish. Acquired from the Reds earlier this month, Winker has never played the infield before, let alone first base. However, it appears the Mariners are exploring their options at the position now that Evan White has been diagnosed with a sports hernia. Through 110 games with Cincinnati last year, Winker slashed .305/.394/.556, hit 24 homers, and made the NL All-Star team. He currently checks in at No. 42 in RotoBaller's updated fantasy baseball outfield rankings.

Mon Mar 14 202219:51Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez Traded To The Mariners
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker and infielder Eugenio Suarez were traded to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Justin Dunn, Brandon Williamson, and Jake Fraley on Monday. Winker was terrific for the Reds last season, slashing .305/.393/.556 slash line with 24 home runs, 32 doubles, 77 runs, and 71 RBI in 110 games. His season was cut short after landing on the injured list with an intercostal strain on September 18. He is fully healthy, heading into Spring Training. Winker is under team control until 2023 and should hit in the heart of the order for an improving Seattle lineup that includes Mitch Haniger, Jarred Kelenic, and Ty France. Suarez has elite power, smashing 30-plus homers in three of the last four seasons. Despite the 30-year-old having raw power, he hit a career-worst .198 and struck out a whopping 29.8% of the time. The Mariners will take on the $35 million owed to him in the deal with the Reds. Suarez will serve as Seattle's everyday third baseman and should provide fantasy managers with solid counting stats, but expect the former Red to be a drain on your team's batting average.

Mon Aug 16 202113:21Jesse Winker Placed On IL
The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Jesse Winker (intercostal strain) on the 10-day injured list on Monday and recalled infielder Jose Barrero in a corresponding move. Winker had been attempting to play through some back tightness but he wound up making the issue worse on a swing during Sunday's game. Losing Winker deals a blow to the Reds, who are trying to fight their way into the playoffs via a Wild Card berth. Winker has been a key part of a fearsome Cincy lineup this season, hitting .307 with 24 homers, 77 runs, 71 RBI, and a steal over 109 games.
