It was 1-1 until the ninth, when both Andrew Bailey and Francisco Cordero allowed single runs. The Reds then seemed to build an insurmountable lead on the strength of their homers in the 10th. Hernandez's led off the inning against Michael Wuertz. After Cedrick Bowers took over with one and one out, Joey Votto hit a two-run homer and Scott Rolen followed with a solo shot of his own. It looked as if Laynce Nix would make it three in a row, but his long drive to center came up a couple of feet short. Hernandez's homer was his third of the year. His first two came on June 28, but he had been in an 11-for-49 slump since that date. | ||||||
