Sun May 13 201208:41Chipper Jones to sit out Sunday
Chipper Jones is expected to receive a day off Sunday.
Chipper fouled a ball off his right foot in the fifth inning and also stung his fingers when he hit a ball off the end of the bat in the ninth. "Rough night," said Jones. "I couldn't feel any of my fingers. It was like I had a beehive right here. If it was a cartoon, you know how when the cartoons get their hand slammed in the door? That was me." Jones had played three games in a row in Chicago for only the second time this season, and his surgically-repaired knee is feeling better, but with the Braves in the midst of playing 20 games in 20 days, he'll need some time off to stay fresh.

Wed May 9 201211:08Chipper Jones says knee is improving
Chipper Jones is in the Braves' starting lineup for the third straight day Wednesday.
It's a bit of a surprise to see Jones in the lineup for Wednesday's matinee, but the veteran third baseman has indicated that his surgically-repaired left knee is improving. The 40-year-old is hitting .311/.358/.554 with five homers, 21 RBI and a .912 OPS across 81 plate appearances this year and is well worth using in mixed leagues while he's healthy.

Thu May 3 201200:14Chipper delivers walkoff homer in 11th inning
Chipper Jones' walkoff two-run homer against Brian Sanches in the 11th inning gave the Braves a 15-13 victory in a wild game Wednesday at Turner Field.
Chipper finished 3-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBI. The homer was already his fourth of the season, and he's now driven in 14 runs. On a night where Carlos Ruiz drove home seven runs and Brian McCann slugged a grand slam, it was good old Larry Wayne who stole the show and delivered the most crucial hit. Even at 40 years old, there's plenty of magic left in his bat.

Wed May 2 201219:09Whether Chipper plays will be daily decision
Chipper Jones admits that he'll have to make a daily decision on whether or not his knee will allow him to play.
Chipper is playing Wednesday, but he sat out two of the previous four games before that. "I told (Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez) if my knee feels good, I want to play," said Jones. "It felt good the last day against Pittsburgh, and it felt really bad (Tuesday). It bounced back, it feels good today, so back in there." Jones has begun a new weight-training program to strengthen the muscles around his knee in hopes of limiting the swelling and joint pain. "Whenever you get fluid in the joint, the muscles around it shut down, they atrophy," Jones said. "You've got weak knees and Bubba (trainer Jeff Porter) told me I wouldn't make it to the All-Star break if I didn't get on some kind of weight program."

Chipper Jones was not in Tuesday's lineup because his surgically-repaired knee was bothering him again.
He's back in the lineup Wednesday, but it sounds like this is something that Chipper will have to deal with off and on for a while. Of course, him battling bumps and bruises is nothing new. The future Hall of Famer is batting .245/.309/.449 with three homers and 12 RBI over 49 at-bats this season.

Fri Apr 27 201223:53Jones has two hits, two RBI in Braves win
Chipper Jones continued his hot-hitting ways, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the Braves 6-1 victory over the Pirates on Friday.

He's hitting a cool .300 with three homers and 10 RBI in his limited at-bats this season. While Juan Francisco is a capable fill-in while Chipper is hurt, he's still the man when he's able to play.
