Jones has only appeared in one game for the Cavaliers this season. He played three scoreless minutes in the blowout loss to Portland on Nov. 4.

Jones signed with Cleveland as a FOB (friend of LeBron). He could provide some 3-point support if he gets some playing time, but he is not in the current rotation.

Jones officially signed with the Cavaliers on Tuesday, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Jones hit on 45.9 percent of his threes last season for Miami, but averaged a mere 12 minutes per game. Don't expect much of a bump in playing time in Cleveland, leaving his fantasy value extremely limited.

James Jones has agreed to sign a one-year, minimum salary deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.

This appears to be another signing aimed at appeasing LeBron James. Both Jones and newly acquired free agent Mike Miller were favorites of LeBron during their time in Miami, and it now it appears they will both be Cavaliers next season. Jones appeared in only 20 games for the Heat last season, averaging 4.9 points in 11.8 minutes of action.

The Cavs have pursued unrestricted free agent James Jones.

Of course they are. LeBron James likes Jones as a teammate, so that has something to do with it. Jones would only be an end-of-the-bench guy and would likely just come at the league minimum, so it wouldn't hurt Cleveland's cap space.

Erik Spoelstra was tight-lipped when asked about how much James Jones would play in Wednesday's Game 5.

A day after LeBron James publicly stated the he hope Jones would see more minutes, the 33-year-old saw 13 minutes of action in Monday's Game 4 win over the Nets (which was his series high). Jones went 0-for-2 from the floor while adding just one rebound and one block during his 13 minutes. When asked about Jones' role in his rotation, Spoelstra played things close to the vest and responded, ""That's where our roster is, with the versatility." It will be interesting to see how Spoelstra deploys Jones in Game 5 on Wednesday, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him in the 15-20 minute range.

LeBron James wants teammate James Jones to play more minutes to provide offensive spacing vs. the Nets defense.

Jones is averaging 1.7 threes per game in the postseason, despite playing only 12 minutes per game. "It's the space that he provides, and his ability to shoot the ball," said LeBron. "You can't do both when he's out on the floor: You can't help on my drive and try to contest the threes." Brooklyn packed the paint during Saturday's game, effectively reducing LeBron to a jump shooter over the final three quarters, and it will be interesting to see if coach Erik Spoelstra takes LBJ's advice.

James Jones made his second consecutive start on Saturday vs. the Bucks, finishing with 10 points, two boards, one assist and one block in 27 minutes.

Jones hit a couple treys tonight and scored 10 for the second consecutive night. The Heat should get some of the calvary back on Monday, which will likely knock Jones out of the rotation.

James Jones is starting vs. the Pistons on Friday.

He'll join LeBron James, Toney Douglas, Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem. Jones hasn't played since Jan. 17 and would be a very risky play in fantasy leagues. Michael Beasley should get some extended run with the second unit and is a better option than Jones.

James Jones started in place of Dwyane Wade for the second straight game and hit 5-of-8 shots (all 3-pointers) for 17 points in Wednesday's win.

He'll be a nice source of 3-pointers any time Wade is out, but figuring out when Wade is going to play or sit is not an easy thing to do. Jones hit two 3-pointers on Tuesday, giving him seven over the last two nights.

James Jones will start in place of Dwyane Wade on Tuesday, while Shane Battier will continue starting ahead of Udonis Haslem.

It's Miami's sixth starting lineup of the season, but Jones' SG gig will likely be short-lived with D-Wade possibly returning vs. the Magic on Wednesday.

Jones cracked double-digit scoring once last season, in a meaningless game in late April. He should have a bigger role this year with Mike Miller no longer on the roster, but remains a deep-league-only option for his 3-point shooting.

James Jones exercised his player option on Tuesday and will stay with the Heat next season.

Jones doesn't have much of a role with the champs, which is why he's locking into the money while he can.

James Jones has no plans to retire after the season.

"Unless something crazy happens, I'll be back," Jones said in reference to his $1.5 million player option. Why wouldn't he be? He never plays, is on the best team in basketball and can be around LeBron James every day. It's a good job if you can get it.

James Jones returned to action on Wednesday January 16.

The Miami Herald writes that it's "difficult to envision much time for James Jones," but that's not totally unexpected given his role in the 2012 postseason. After averaging just 13 minutes per game in 2011-12, Jones could be looking at even fewer minutes in 2012-13.

James Jones could be in danger of not making the final Heat roster.

With the additions of Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis coupled with a healthy Mike Miller and Shane Battier also on the team, Jones' value as a 3-point specialist is rapidly declining. He barely played in the postseason and could be shown the door in training camp if the team decides to go another route. He's not on the fantasy radar, and if waived, Jones probably wouldn't be out of work for long.

James Jones, who was said to be contemplating retirement, now says he wants to come back to the Heat despite the fact they signed 3-point shooters Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis.

He wants to play out the final two seasons on his contract, which includes a 2013-14 player option, but if he wasn't able to make a huge impact without Allen and Lewis, he's going to have an even tougher time next season. "If there is a trade or anything like that, we'll cross that bridge if we get there," he said about possibly retiring. "But, like I said, I have no desire to be anywhere else but by Miami."

James Jones is contemplating retirement following the Heat winning the 2012 NBA championship.

"Mentally and physically, it's taken a toll on not just on me, but for my family," Jones said. "At some point, you know the game comes to an end. You see the writing on the wall." Jones admitted that he was thinking of retirement even before this season started, so it's entirely possible he decides to walk away as a champion.
