Thu May 3 201218:07Morel not in Thursday's lineup
Brent Morel is not in Thursday's lineup against the Indians.
We doubt this will impact many fantasy owners at this point, as Morel is hitting just .188 with zero homers and a 28/4 K/BB ratio across 88 plate appearances this season. Eduardo Escobar will start in his place and bat ninth against right-hander Justin Masterson.

Tue Apr 10 201215:42Morel dropped to ninth Tuesday night
Brent Morel was dropped down to ninth in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Indians.
Morel got another shot out of the No. 2 spot on Monday night and went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. He's now 1-for-13 with seven strikeouts to begin the season. He simply needs to put together better at-bats in order to dig his way out of the bottom of the lineup.

Sat Apr 7 201215:49Bret Morel demoted to eighth in batting order
The White Sox removed Brent Morel from the second spot in the batting order.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura experimented with Morel at the top of the lineup, but will move him back to the bottom-third for now. Brent Lillibridge replaces him in the order. Morel will hit eighth.

Fri Apr 6 201216:45Brent Morel fans four times
Inserted into the second spot in the order, Brent Morel struck out all four times he was up Friday in the loss to the Rangers.
That might bring a quick end to one experiment. Alexei Ramirez was pretty good as a No. 2 hitter last season and certainly didn't deserve to be dropped to seventh in the new lineup. Morel belongs in the bottom third of the order right now.

Brent Morel left Friday's Cactus League game due to back stiffness.
Morel was removed for a pinch-runner in the sixth inning for precautionary reasons and is considered day-to-day. He should be fine for Opening Day.

Tue Mar 27 201219:27Brent Morel drives in three
Brent Morel singled and ripped a two-run homer Tuesday against the Indians.
Morel saved an anemic batting line from being worse last season when he blasted eight home runs in September, and he's carried that over with a nice spring, batting .326. The old adage is that you should never put too much stock in numbers produced in September and in spring training, but Morel could take a step forward this season. He might hit second in the White Sox order.

Wed Mar 7 201218:35Brent Morel picks up a pair of hits
Brent Morel singled, doubled and scored a run in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers.
The youngster now has three hits in five at-bats early on this spring. Morel was a disaster at the plate for five months last season but exploded in September, blasting eight home runs. He'll be hoping to carry over that momentum into 2012.

Fri Oct 7 201119:09Morel stands to benefit from Ventura signing
Doug Padilla of ESPNChicago.com suggests manager Robin Ventura could have a lasting impact on Brent Morel as he heads toward his sophomore season.
"I will take what he gives me in small doses and hopefully transfer it into something big," Morel said. "Playing in Chicago you learn so much about the history of the White Sox and know what kind of player he was, what kind of hitter he was, a Gold Glove winner, and hopefully that can transfer over." Morel vastly underperformed during his rookie season with 10 homers and 41 RBI over 126 games. If he can build off his strong September finish (8 HR, 19 RBI) and learn from his new manager he could be in line for an everyday role in 2012.

Fri Sep 16 201123:40Brent Morel stays hot
Brent Morel kept his home run binge going Friday, launching a two-run blast in a loss to the Royals.
Just over a week ago, Morel had only three home runs on the season, but he now has eight after a pair of two-homer games to go along with tonight's blast. Still sporting just a .252/.287/.363 batting line for the season, he's not a good bet to keep this up, but AL-only leaguers can ride him while he's hot.

Mon Sep 12 201123:41Morel has another two-homer night
Brent Morel hit a pair of solo home runs in Chicago's blowout loss to the Tigers on Monday.
Morel's second two-bomb night in five games gives him seven home runs on the season. Batting just .255/.288/.360 through 386 plate appearances, Morel won't begin 2012 with an everyday role.

Thu Sep 8 201123:30Morel launches two homers as White Sox roll
Brent Morel had a rare offensive explosion Thursday, belting a three-run homer and a solo shot in a win over the Indians.
Where did that come from? Morel has been swinging the bat a bit better of late, collecting a hit in eight of the last nine games, but this is just the second time this season he's had two extra-base hits in a game, much less two home runs. The third baseman is still batting just .258 with five longballs and 30 RBI for the year.

Mon Sep 5 201122:47Morel has two-RBI night
Brent Morel went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI in Chicago's win over the Twins on Monday.
The multi-hit night was his first in 11 games, while the multi-RBI effort was just his fifth of the season. Now batting .253/.275/.328, Morel will enter 2012 as a poor option in AL-only leagues.

Wed Aug 17 201101:55Morel collects four hits in 14-inning win
Brent Morel went 4-for-7 with two doubles, a stolen base and a run scored in Chicago's 14-inning, 8-7 win against Cleveland on Tuesday.
Morel went 0-for-12 over the weekend in a series against the Royals. He's now hitting .259/.275/.324 on the year and remains confined strictly to AL-only leagues.

Tue Aug 9 201122:10Morel delivers a home run in victory
Brent Morel delivered a home run and two RBI to help the White Sox beat the Orioles 4-3 on Tuesday.
He went 2-for-4. The homer was just his second of the season and he's up to just 21 RBI in 263 at-bats. Morel is now hitting .259/.277/.319 on the year and should remain firmly quarantined to AL-only leagues.

Wed Jun 15 201122:23Morel picks up 14th RBI in loss
Brent Morel picked up Chicago's lone RBI in its 4-1 loss to Minnesota on Wednesday.
He singled home Gordon Beckham in the sixth. The RBI was just Morel's 14th in 47 games this season, and he should remain firmly quarantined to AL-only leagues.

Mon May 9 201113:42Ozzie sees Brent Morel as ideal No. 2 hitter
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen sees Brent Morel as an ideal No. 2 hitter in the future.
Guillen still abides by the old school "handles the bat well" adage when considering qualifications for a No. 2 man, a characteristic he thinks Morel possesses. But, Morel has hit ninth in all but two of his starts this season and batted seventh and eighth, respectively, in those other two contests. That's where a .229/.238/.289 batting line with zero walks on the year will put you. Morel does have five hits in his last two games, though, so perhaps he'll start to turn things around.

Wed Apr 6 201118:11Morel delivers go-ahead single for White Sox
Brent Morel delivered a two-run single in the top of the 12th to help the White Sox beat the Royals 10-7 on Wednesday.
The Royals bullpen was one of week one's big success stories, but Kansas City relievers gave up eight runs in 5 1/3 innings after a successful start from Jeff Francis today. Morel's big hit helped take the sting out of him committing his third error in four games this season. It's his defense that got him a starting job, but his glove has let him down in the early going. Fortunately, he's made up for it with four RBI.

Thu Mar 24 201116:40White Sox name Brent Morel as 3B starter
The White Sox have named Brent Morel as their season-opening starter at third base.
Mark Teahen will also get some looks at the hot corner in the right matchups. Morel, a strong defender, batted .322/.359/.480 with 10 home runs and 64 RBI between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte last season. He can be avoided for fantasy purposes.
