Wed Aug 7 201300:34Ross smacks three-run homer in Tuesday's win
Cody Ross hit a three-run homer in Tuesday's win against the Rays.
The 32-year-old finished 1-for-4. Ross hit .301 with three homers and 12 RBI in July, and he's been even hotter in August, going 9-for-21 (.429) with two homers and six RBI. The lefty masher is best suited as part of a platoon in daily fantasy leagues.

Fri Aug 2 201323:06Ross homers, knocks in three runs vs. Red Sox
Cody Ross had a big night against his former team on Friday, going 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in a 7-6 win over the Red Sox.
After expressing frustration about offseason negotiations with the Red Sox earlier in the day, Ross did all the talking with his bat in this one. He had an RBI single in the third inning, a run-scoring double in the fifth, and a solo homer in the seventh. The 32-year-old has been very productive since the start of July, but he's best utilized against left-handed starters in fantasy leagues.

Fri Aug 2 201316:02Ross says Red Sox GM Cherington dishonest
Cody Ross said Red Sox GM Ben Cherington "lied to my face."
"They told me that they didn't want to sign guys to long-term deals, and then they gave [Shane] Victorino a three-year deal, and then [Mike] Napoli a three-year deal or four-year deal, whatever it was [later shortened to a one-year deal after health issues popped up]," Ross said. "So, basically they lied to my face. At that point, I kind of got a bad taste in my mouth and wanted to move on, and that was it." The guess here is that Cherington never had any intention of offering Ross a long-term deal and said what he could to appease the veteran outfielder and allow him to move on. In any case, it's never a good look to air dirty laundry to the local media the first time a player returns to his former city.

Wed Jul 31 201323:36Ross collects three hits in win over Rays
Cody Ross went 3-for-5 with two RBI against the Rays on Wednesday.
Ross provided three of the Diamondbacks' 14 hits on the night, and he drove in a pair of runs in the first inning with a bases-loaded single off Jeremy Hellickson. The 32-year-old is batting .268/.326/.384 with 32 RBI in 85 games for Arizona this year. He's part of a crowded Diamondbacks outfield, so he can't be relied on as an everyday option outside of NL-only leagues.

Sat Jul 27 201300:23Cody Ross hits sixth homer
Cody Ross went 2-for-5 and hit his sixth homer Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Ross has always had big lefty-righty splits, but he's taken it to a new level this year; he actually has more hits in 99 at-bats against lefties (37) than in 180 at-bats against righties (36). Four of his six homers have also come against lefties, and his OPS is about 430 points higher versus southpaws. With Adam Eaton back, the Diamondbacks should be benching him against right-handers most days.

Wed Jun 19 201319:09Cody Ross had been having contact issues
Cody Ross has been dealing with contact issues due to the dry climate in Arizona.
Ross paid a visit to the eye doctor, who evidently fixed the issue, as the outfielder launched a pinch-hit three-run homer Wednesday. Perhaps he's due for a hot streak with his vision issues behind him.

Wed Jun 19 201318:59Cody Ross delivers big homer for Arizona
Cody Ross delivered a pinch-hit three-run homer off Mike Dunn in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Diamondbacks past the Marlins on Wednesday.
The untradeable Mike Dunn, that is. Ross has been flat-out horrible against right-handers this year, which is part of the reason he was out of the starting lineup today, but he's still killing lefties to the turn of a .387 average in 62 at-bats. All three of his homers have come off southpaws. He made a winner of David Hernandez with the blast today.

Thu Jun 13 201302:38Cody Ross goes 4-for-7 against Dodgers
Cody Ross went 4-for-7 with a double Wednesday in the 12-inning game against the Dodgers.
Ross ended up with seven hits in the series, raising his average from .253 to .271. He still has just two homers and 16 RBI in 173 at-bats for the season, so he's been quite the fantasy bust.

Sat Apr 13 201319:23D'Backs activate Ross and place Kubel on DL
Diamondbacks activated OF Cody Ross from the 15-day disabled list.
Ross missed the first two weeks of the 2013 regular season because of a calf strain. His bat is a good fit at Chase Field and he makes for a fine third fantasy outfielder in mixed leagues now that he's healthy. The 32-year-old tallied 22 homers and 81 RBI in 130 games last season with Boston. Jason Kubel was placed on the disabled list in a corresponding roster move.

Mon Apr 8 201322:53Cody Ross (calf) could be activated by Friday
Cody Ross (calf) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Friday.

Mon Apr 1 201320:12Ross (calf) could return as soon as April 8
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said that the best-case scenario would have Cody Ross (calf) returning on April 8.
Ross will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Visalia when their season starts on Thursday, playing the outfield and also being used as a DH. If he gets through a few games with no issues, he should be in the lineup when the D'Backs return home next Monday. Gerardo Parra and A.J. Pollock will start for the first week with both Ross and Adam Eaton out.

Sun Mar 31 201316:45D-Backs place Cody Ross (calf) on 15-day DL
Diamondbacks placed Cody Ross on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21, with a left calf injury.
Ross hasn't played since early March, but the Diamondbacks are backdating his DL stint by 10 days so he could only miss the first five games of the season. With Adam Eaton (elbow) also sidelined, Gerardo Parra and A.J. Pollock will open the season as starters in the D-Backs' outfield.

Fri Mar 29 201322:27Cody Ross (calf) will begin season on the DL
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson confirmed on Friday that Cody Ross (calf) will begin the season on the disabled list.
This isn't terribly surprising news, as the Diamondbacks have stated all along that they'll err on the side of caution as opposed to rushing Ross back into action. That means both Gerardo Parra and A.J. Pollock will open the season as starters in the D'Backs' outfield.
