Sun Nov 24 201320:09Witten scores twice as Cowboys roll
Jason Witten caught four balls for 37 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys' Week 12 win over the Giants.
Both of Tony Romo's TD passes were good to Witten in the red zone. Witten has now scored four times across two 2013 meetings with the G-Men. Keep leaning on Witten as a mid-range TE1 when the Cowboys play Oakland in Week 13.

Mon Nov 11 201301:52Witten limited to two catches, 27 yards
Jason Witten caught two passes for 27 yards in Sunday night's Week 10 loss to the Saints.
Witten was targeted a team-high six times, but wasn't able to get anything going with Tony Romo. He's now been held under 50 yards six times this season and continues to struggles with his consistency. Witten is averaging just 4.7 catches for 53.2 yards over his first 10 games and will be just a low-end TE1 when the Cowboys come out of their bye in Week 12.

Sun Oct 27 201317:33Jason Witten held to two catches in loss
Jason Witten caught two passes for 15 yards in Dallas' Week 8 loss to the Lions.
Bizarrely, Witten's two grabs were his only targets. Both the catches and looks were new season lows. Averaging just 4.6 catches for 50.4 yards, Witten is shaping up as a low-end TE1. That being said, he has an appetizing Week 9 matchup in the Vikings.

Mon Oct 14 201301:12Witten takes step back in Week 6 win
Jason Witten caught three passes for 27 yards in Sunday night's Week 6 win over Washington.
He was targeted five times in the passing game. Witten took a step back after going off for 121 yards and a touchdown last week, but his lack of involvement was more the result of the Cowboys playing conservative in the second half. Witten has 31 catches for 340 yards and three touchdowns through six games and will remain a TE1 in Week 7 against the Eagles.

Sun Sep 29 201320:24Jason Witten has another quiet day in loss
Jason Witten caught five passes for 43 yards in Dallas' Week 4 loss to the Chargers.
Witten's latest quiet day came even though he drew a team-leading 10 targets, and the Cowboys were without Miles Austin. With 25 percent of the season in the books, Witten is on pace for just 84 catches, 768 yards and eight touchdowns. He's yet to surpass 70 yards in a game. Witten has hardly fallen off a cliff, but is looking like he'll be a lower-end TE1 instead of the high-end one he was in 2012.

Sun Sep 22 201318:01Witten leads Cowboys in receiving Sunday
Jason Witten led the Cowboys with his five catches for 67 yards in Sunday's Week 3 win over the Rams.
With the Cowboys running the ball successfully, the passing game didn't have to produce much. The Cowboys were up 24-0 early in the third quarter. They just sat on the ball and drained the clock thereafter. Most of the starters were resting on the sideline early in the fourth quarter. Witten and the Cowboys go to San Diego in Week 4.

Sun Sep 15 201316:52Jason Witten held to 12 yards in loss
Jason Witten caught three passes for 12 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Chiefs.
The Chiefs left Dez Bryant in one-on-one coverage for much of the day, trusting Brandon Flowers. It resulted in far less open spaces for both Witten and Miles Austin (three catches for 31 yards). Witten's eight targets did rank second on the team behind Dez, but the 12 yards are his lowest since Week 3 of last year. Witten can still be trusted as a mediocre TE1 against the Rams in Week 3.

Mon Sep 9 201301:01Witten goes for 70 yards, two touchdowns
Jason Witten had eight catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Witten had both of the Cowboys' touchdowns and took advantage of a mismatch with Mark Herzlich in the second half. After finishing with just three touchdowns last season, he's finally being emphasized more in the red-zone offense. He didn't have any drops and secured eight of his nine targets.

Sun Aug 25 201319:56Cowboys working Witten into the red-zone
Jason Witten says the Cowboys have been emphasizing him in the red-zone offense this training camp.
"That's something we talked about this year, more than ever," Witten said. "I felt like in training camp we saw some results of that and I'm excited to see it carry over into the regular season." It would be easier to believe Witten if this wasn't an annual refrain from a guy who has been held to five scores or less in four of the last five seasons. The Cowboys' go-to play in the red zone will still be slants and fades to Dez Bryant.

Sat Aug 24 201323:03Jason Witten catches one pass vs. Bengals
Jason Witten caught one pass for 11 yards in Saturday's fourth preseason game against the Bengals.
The catch was Witten's lone grab of the preseason, but it's not a concern for the top-five tight end. Witten's lateral agility leaves much to be desired at this stage of his career, but he's still a target monster, and is insanely durable. He'll bring home the fantasy bacon.

Tue Jul 30 201309:58Jason Witten excelling in the red zone
Jason Witten has excelled in the red zone so far during Cowboys camp.
It's notable because the red zone is where Witten has struggled during his illustrious career. Although he's caught 806 passes over 159 games, just 44 (5.4 percent) have gone for touchdowns. For comparison's sake, 8.3 percent of Tony Gonzalez's career catches have resulted in six points and Antonio Gates is way up at 12.9 percent. We don't expect Witten to suddenly become a red-zone monster, but his relative value has grown as the tight end position has thinned out in fantasy. There aren't many safer options.

Thu Feb 28 201312:32Jason Witten restructures contract
The Cowboys have completed a restructuring of Jason Witten's contract, clearing roughly $3.65 million in cap space.
LG Nate Livings also had his deal restructured as the Cowboys are working hard to free up some money. Witten remains under contract through 2017, when he'll be 35 years old.

Wed Feb 27 201322:06Dallas plans to restructure Witten's deal
The Cowboys plan to restructure Jason Witten's contract.
Witten is due a $5.5 million base salary in 2013, and he is currently set to count $8 million against the cap. He'll be just one of "about a dozen" players the Cowboys approach about reworking their deals in an effort to become salary-cap compliant by March 12.

Mon Dec 31 201200:40Jason Witten posts 7/56/1 line in loss
Jason Witten caught seven passes for 56 yards and a touchdown in Dallas' season-ending loss to the Redskins in Week 17.
The seven grabs extend Witten's new career-high total to 110, and give him 806 for his career. He's just the third tight end in NFL history to post 800 or more receptions. Witten finishes 2012 with 1,039 yards, which is just 106 off his career-best total of 1,145 from 2007. He's now surpassed 1,000 yards three times in the past four years. It's possible - perhaps likely - Witten won't come close to equalling these numbers during his age-31 campaign in 2013, but he's earned another season of high-end TE1 status.

Sun Dec 23 201217:26Witten sets new single-season TE record
Jason Witten caught six passes for 60 yards in the Cowboys' Week 16 overtime loss to the Saints.
The six catches set a new single-season NFL record for catches by a tight end in a season. The grabs gave him 103 on the year, which breaks the mark previously held by Tony Gonzalez from the 2004 campaign when Gonzalez hauled in 102 balls. If Witten could just find the end zone this season, it would be one of the best seasons ever put together by a tight end. Unfortunately, Witten has found the end zone just twice on the year. Dallas travels to Washington in Week 17.

Tue Dec 18 201208:05Jason Witten closing in on TE record
Jason Witten is six catches away from setting the single-season record for receptions by a tight end.
At age 30, Witten has a career-high 97 catches in 14 games. The record of 102 was set by Tony Gonzalez in 2004. Witten won't have any trouble setting the mark with juicy matchups against the Bucs and Redskins still on the schedule. "He just goes about it the right way," coach Jason Garrett said. "You hear me say this a lot about guys, but he's the best example of it. ... I think he's had a remarkable year."

Sun Dec 16 201220:35Jason Witten posts 5/43/1 line
Jason Witten caught five passes for 43 yards and a touchdown in Dallas' Week 15 win over the Steelers.
Astoundingly, the touchdown was just Witten's second of the season even though he entered Week 15 with 92 catches on 124 targets. The yards were actually fewest since Week 3, but Witten has now notched five or more grabs in 10 of his past 11 games. If Witten notches three catches in Week 16, it will give him the first 100-reception campaign of his career. The 97 grabs are already a new personal best.

Mon Dec 3 201200:35Jason Witten has another nice night
Jason Witten caught six passes for 108 yards in Dallas' Week 13 win over the Eagles.
He also secured an Eagles' onside kick with 0:31 remaining. Witten was once again Tony Romo's preferred pass catcher, receiving a team-high eight targets in his third 100-yard game of the season. Witten has drawn a mammoth 120 targets on the year, putting his weekly average at 10. All the looks have him on pace for a 73/1,091/1 line. The 1,000-yard campaign would be his third in four seasons, and fourth of his 10-year career. He's locked in as an upper-echelon TE1 heading into the fantasy playoffs.
