Mon May 2 202218:10Joey Gallo Out Of The Lineup Again On Monday
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (groin) is not in the starting lineup for the second straight game on Monday as the team takes on the Toronto Blue Jays. Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton will be covering the outfield for the game. Gallo is dealing with left groin tightness, an injury that first flared up on Saturday. However, Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Gallo is improving and that he could be available as a pinch-hitter if he gets through pregame warmups fine.

Sun May 1 202211:58Joey Gallo Not Playing Sunday
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (groin) is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. Gallo said he wasn't concerned at all about the left groin injury that caused him to leave Saturday's game in the fifth inning, but he's out of the lineup for the series finale on Sunday against southpaw Daniel Lynch. The 28-year-old left-hander should be back in the team's lineup for their next game, and he could even enter the game as a pinch-hitter on Sunday. Gallo has two home runs in his first 21 games, but he's only driven in three runs, has struck out 29 times and is hitting .180 (11-for-61). Miguel Andujar is in left field and is hitting seventh on Sunday against Lynch. Andujar has just one at-bat for the Yanks this year after starting the year in the minors.

Sun May 1 202206:57Joey Gallo Not Concerned About Groin Injury
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (groin) is "not concerned at all" about the groin issue that caused him to leave Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. He left Saturday's contest early with left groin tightness. "I'm not concerned at all," Gallo said, adding that he left the game "just as a precaution." "We'll see how he's doing Sunday morning," said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. "I think we'll know a lot more in the morning." The 28-year-old underwent additional testing, but nothing was mentioned about the results. "I think I'll be fine," Gallo said. "I'll be ready to go (Sunday) if the team needs me. I wanted to keep playing (Saturday), but the smart move was not to make it worse." Gallo is day-to-day for now, but fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation and check back on Sunday to see if the Yankees outfielder is in the starting lineup. Tim Locastro replaced Gallo in the game and would see an uptick in playing time while Gallo is sidelined. Locastro can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats for Sunday's slate if Gallo is out of the lineup.

Sat Apr 30 202222:21Joey Gallo Exits Saturday's Game Early
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (groin) exited Saturday's game with left groin tightness. He went 2-for-2 with a run scored before leaving. The 28-year-old will undergo additional testing after the game and is considered day-to-day. Gallo is off to a slow start to the season, slashing .153/.254/.271 with two home runs and three RBI over 20 games in 2022. Tim Locastro replaced Gallo in the game and would see an uptick in playing time while Gallo is sidelined. Locastro is primarily used as a pinch-runner this season and swiped three bags over 10 games in 2022. The 29-year-old would be a speculative add in deep-league formats if Gallo were to miss time, especially for fantasy managers searching for speed. Stay tuned for further updates.

Fri Apr 29 202216:19Josh Donaldson, Joey Gallo Sitting Friday
New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson and outfielder Joey Gallo are not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. DJ LeMahieu will be covering third base for the game while Tim Locastro will be patrolling Gallo's usual left field post. Donaldson and Gallo are both off to dreadful starts to the 2022 season. They have two home runs each and they're both hitting south of the Mendoza line. The two sluggers currently have a combined OPS of 1.185, which is a little south of Mike Trout's MLB-leading 1.255 OPS on his own.

Wed Apr 20 202216:06Joey Gallo Heading To The Bench On Wednesday
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez and the Detroit Tigers. Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton will be patrolling the outfield for the game. Gallo was also held out of the starting lineup on Sunday, when the Yankees faced Baltimore Orioles southpaw Bruce Zimmerman. The left-handed Gallo is off to an abysmal start to the year. He's gone just 4-for-33 over 11 games and he has yet to record an extra-base hit. There's a chance he'll find himself losing his starting job if he doesn't start getting things together at the plate soon.

Sun Apr 17 202211:56Joey Gallo, Anthony Rizzo Resting Against O's
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo and first baseman Anthony Rizzo are not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles. Tim Locastro is starting in left field and hitting ninth against Orioles left-hander Bruce Zimmermann, while DJ LeMahieu moves to first base and is hitting fifth. Gleyber Torres is at second base and is batting sixth. Gallo is off to a slow start in his first full season with the Yankees and is still searching for his first long ball and RBI after going 4-for-28 with no extra-base hits and 11 strikeouts in his first nine games. Rizzo will get his first day off of the year after going 7-for-32 with three home runs and eight RBI in his first 41 plate appearances in 2022.

Tue Apr 12 202216:50Joey Gallo Absent From Tuesday's Lineup
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo is not part of the starting lineup for Tuesday night's game against Yusei Kikuchi and the Toronto Blue Jays. Gallo started in left field in each of the team's first four games of the year, but Aaron Hicks will be shifting over to cover left on Tuesday. Yankees manager Aaron Boone has been working in rest days for various members of the team's primary lineup. Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa both received their first day off on Monday. Gallo has been doing a good job of getting on base so far this year with a .412on-base percentage, but he's still searching for his first long ball of the year.

Wed Mar 23 202213:06Joey Gallo Gets $10.275 Million From Yankees
The New York Yankees avoided salary arbitration with outfielder Joey Gallo on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $10.275 million deal. Gallo is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2022 season. The left-handed slugger began the year with the Texas Rangers before being traded to New York, where he hit .160/.303/.404 with 13 home runs and 22 RBI in 58 games. Overall, the two-time All-Star slashed .199/.351/.458 with 38 homers, 77 RBI, six steals and 90 runs in 616 plate appearances. He also led the league with 213 strikeouts and 111 walks. The 28-year-old could see a fantasy boost with the league's move to ban shifts moving forward, but in the end, Gallo is an elite power bat that won't help your batting average at all.

Mon Mar 7 202216:21Joey Gallo, Others Could Benefit From Ban On Shifts
The MLB Players Association agreed to allow the league to ban shifts, implement a pitch clock and make bases larger in 2023, subject to those agreements fitting into a new collective bargaining agreement. New York Yankees first baseman/outfielder Joey Gallo, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows, free-agent first baseman Anthony Rizzo and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper, based on Baseball Savant spray charts, stand to benefit the most once shifts are officially outlawed. Gallo faced shifts in 95% of his total plate appearances last year, which was more than anybody in the league. For his career, the lefty pull hitter has pulled 39% of the balls he hits, with just 13.4% of his batted balls going to the opposite field -- league average is 18.6%.

Thu Sep 30 202118:15Joey Gallo Absent From Thursday's Lineup
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (arm) is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays. Gallo injured his right forearm Wednesday night after getting hit by a pitch, and will get the day off. However, he's feeling better and is day-to-day, according to Marly Rivera of ESPN. Gallo's having a bounceback year in 149 games this season, slashing .199/.352/.463 with 38 home runs, 76 RBI, and 88 runs. It'll be Giancarlo Stanton shifting to the outfield in his place, while Kyle Higashioka will start behind the plate for the designated hitter Gary Sanchez. Higashioka is a defense-first catcher, batting .188 with a .658 OPS. He does have 10 HRs in 65 games, but fantasy managers can probably find better on the waiver wire.

Wed Sep 29 202122:20Joey Gallo Going For X-Rays
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (arm) will get X-rays after being hit by a pitch on his right forearm, according to manager Aaron Boone. Gallo was hit by a 94 mph sinker from Blue Jays relief pitcher Tim Mayza during the seventh inning on Wednesday. The slugger remained in the game until his next at-bat during the ninth inning before being pulled for a pinch-hitter. Should the 27-year-old be forced to miss any time, utility man Tyler Wade and infielder Rougned Odor are candidates to replace Gallo in the lineup.

Wed Sep 22 202110:07Joey Gallo Belts Eighth Home Run of September
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo swatted a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Rangers. Gallo got some revenge against his former team, clubbing a ball 395 feet into the seats at 108.6 MPH to give New York a 4-1 lead in the sixth inning. The slugging outfielder has been dealing with a neck issue, though one would never know it by looking at the numbers, as he's been on fire in September. Overall, Gallo is slashing .203/.355/.476 with 38 homers, 76 RBI, 85 runs scored, and six stolen bases. He should be a lock in all fantasy lineups while he's hot, as he has the upside to carry teams.

Sun Sep 19 202112:09Joey Gallo Remains On Bench Sunday
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (neck) will not start Sunday's game against Cleveland. Gallo was removed from Saturday's game in the fifth inning with neck tightness, and Tyler Wade took his spot in the outfield. The Yankees will deploy an outfield of Brett Gardner, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton across the grass with Luke Voit at designated hitter. Gallo has been on fire with six homers in his last seven games, so his absence is a big blow to fantasy managers, especially those who have playoff matchups coming down to the wire. His return is expected early in the week.

Sat Sep 18 202117:02Joey Gallo Exited Saturday's Game With Neck Tightness
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (neck) left Saturday's game against the Indians early due to injury. Gallo is dealing with neck stiffness, which he received treatment for Friday night. Manager Aaron Boone said that the slugger could "potentially, hopefully," return to the lineup for Sunday's contest. That would be ideal for both the Yankees and fantasy managers, as Gallo has been red-hot at the dish lately, crushing six homers in the past week of play. Look for him to return to action either Sunday against Cleveland or Monday against his former team, the Rangers.

Sat Sep 18 202109:51Joey Gallo Belts Two Homers In Friday's Win
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two homers, and a pair of RBI in Friday's win over the Indians. Gallo gave New York a 1-0 lead with a solo shot in the second, then tacked on an insurance run with another blast in the eighth inning. The slugger mostly slumped through his first month as a Yankee but is officially on fire, having homered six times in his last eight games. Gallo has an incredible 43.8 percent barrel rate, 95.8 MPH average exit velocity, and 56.3 percent hard-hit rate during this hot stretch and should be a staple in all fantasy lineups moving forward.

Fri Sep 17 202108:41Joey Gallo Goes Yard Thursday
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo belted his 35th homer of the year in Thursday's loss to the Orioles. Gallo gave New York a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a 101.8 MPH, 363 MPH blast, which was a bit muted by his Statcast standards. Still, the slugger has now homered four times in the last week and seems poised to finish the season strong for both the Yankees and his fantasy managers. Up next is a favorable matchup against Cleveland. Gallo owns a 1.023 OPS with six homers in 13 career games against the Indians.

Wed Sep 15 202118:33Joey Gallo Isn't Starting On Wednesday
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo will begin Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles and left-hander John Means on the bench. The 27-year-old is batting .199 with a .355 on-base percentage, 34 home runs, and six stolen bases in 563 plate appearances this season. Aaron Judge, who started Tuesday's game in center field, is moving back to right field in place of Gallo. Brett Gardner is batting eighth and starting in center field on Wednesday. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help in the outfield. The 37-year-old is hitting .220 with a .331 on-base percentage, eight home runs, and three stolen bases in 395 plate appearances this year.

Mon Sep 13 202118:11Joey Gallo Belts 33rd Homer
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-5 win over the Twins Monday. Gallo was just 3-for-30 in September coming into the game, so his two-hit effort was a much-needed one. The slugger crushed his home run at 110.2 MPH, as he continues to hit the ball hard when he makes contact. Unfortunately, he hasn't been doing a lot of that lately, as evidenced by his 42.1 percent strikeout rate and 58.2 percent contact rate since September 1. Gallo's finish to the season will hinge upon him improving on those numbers because the power ability is always there with him.

Sat Sep 11 202117:44Joey Gallo On The Bench Saturday
New York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo isn't starting against the New York Mets and right-hander Taijuan Walker on Saturday. Gallo is batting .136 with a .301 on-base percentage and seven home runs in 163 plate appearances since being acquired in a trade from the Texas Rangers. The Yankees are starting Giancarlo Stanton, Brett Gardner, and Aaron Judge from left to right in the outfield against the Mets. Stanton and Judge are rostered in most leagues leaving Gardner as the only potential outfield streaming option for fantasy managers. The veteran is batting .219 with a .332 on-base percentage, seven home runs, and three stolen bases in 382 plate appearances this season. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for outfield help on Saturday.
