RHP Yordano Ventura draws the starting assignment for Game 3 in New York. Ventura is 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA in eight career postseason starts. He is 0-1 with a 5.09 ERA in four postseason starts this October. He has never faced the Mets in his three-season major league career.

Manager Ned Yost confirmed Saturday that Ventura will start Game 4 of the ALDS Monday against the Astros, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.

The Royals guaranteed a Game 4 by winning Friday night, and Yost reaffirmed Saturday that it will be Ventura taking the ball in that game as expected. He will be pitching on short rest, but he threw just 42 pitches in his rain-shortened outing in Game 1, so he should be able to handle a full workload Monday.
