Capps tossed scoreless eighth inning, allowing one hit and striking out a pair to register his second hold of the season.
Capps returned to Miami from Triple-A New Orleans in mid-May and has performed exceptionally well with a 1.29 ERA, and more than a strikeout per inning. He appears to be generating trust, and has the stuff to pitch in high leverage situations. With former closer Steve Cishek in the minors, if he can keep working his way up the bullpen food chain, should A.J. Ramos stumble at any point, Capps could be a dark horse to see save chances.

Capps (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings in Saturday's extra-inning affair with Baltimore, striking out six while allowing just one hit to pick up his first win of the year.
Capps has been awfully hard to hit in his three appearances with Miami this year, two of which have come since his recall from Triple-A New Orleans. In six MLB innings so far in 2015, he's allowed one run while striking out 11 batters and walking none. Fantasy owners in leagues that count holds should be very intrigued by that, and it's not impossible that Capps could figure into the closing mix sometime down the line if he keeps pitching well.

Capps will be called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Capps has a 1.80 ERA and 9.0 K/9 for Triple-A New Orleans this season, but he's also walked 10 batters in just 15 innings. While Capps has the talent to eventually emerge as a late-inning arm, the Marlins figure to use him mostly in lower-leverage situations for the immediate future.

Capps was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans after Wednesday's game.
Capps was called up Monday to bolster the team's bullpen depth, and ended up retiring the side in order on 10 pitches in the eighth inning of the opener against Atlanta. With David Phelps ready to return from the paternity list, the 24-year-old Capps will head back down, but the right-hander with the funky delivery could return the next time the Marlins need a fresh arm.

Capps was officially from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Capps will be recalled to take the roster spot of Hendersen Alvarez (shoulder), who landed on the disabled list Wednesday in a corresponding move. He'll likely serve in middle relief, as Alvarez's replacement in the rotation has yet to be announced.

Capps was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Capps was likely hoping to earn a setup role in front of Steve Cishek, but a shaky spring training has pushed the 24-year-old way down the bullpen pecking order. While we should still see Capps with the Marlins at some point this season, it seems he has some things to work out in the minors. Through just 4.2 innings this spring, he has hit two batters, walked another four and surrendered a home run.

Capps has struggled with his command during Grapefruit League action, allowing five earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched.
Capps walked four in his second outing of the spring and hit a pair of batters in his latest appearance. Though he continues to offer plus velocity and plenty of strikeouts, Capps' erratic command could ultimately cost him an Opening Day roster spot.

Capps allowed one run and struck out two over 1.2 innings during his return to the mound against the Mets on Tuesday.
It was Capps' first action since landing on the disabled list in May. The fireballer was acquired last offseason in the Logan Morrison deal and logged just 12 innings pitched before sustaining the elbow injury. Capps sat in the mid-90s with his fastball Tuesday, touching 97 MPH on a few throws, while tossing 20 of his 30 pitches for strikes.

He was place on the disabled list in late May, and was later transferred to the 60-day DL when he his timetable was pushed back. Capps will retake a spot in the bullpen, as the Marlins hold onto slim playoff hopes heading into September. Kevin Gregg was transferred to the 60-day DL to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Capps.

Capps (elbow) remains on track to rejoin the Marlins when rosters expand Sept. 1, the Miami Herald reports.
On the shelf since a May elbow injury, Capps has progressed to rehab-game action with the Marlins Gulf Coast League affiliate and is scheduled to throw for High-A Jupiter on Saturday. It's unclear if he will be quite ready for game action when he is recalled, but it is an encouraging sign that the Marlins plan to get him back with the club.

Capps (elbow) is currently rehabbing at the Marlins' facility in Jupiter and could return to the team in September if he avoids further setbacks, the Miami Herald reports
Capps has been on the disabled list since May with an elbow strain but has progressed to throwing regular bullpen sessions in the past few weeks. Manager Mike Redmond noted that "he's been feeling great," and remains optimistic about his availability for the club down the stretch. Capps has appeared in just nine games for the Marlins this season, putting up a 3.00 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 15 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched.

Carter Capps will get a second opinion and have his right elbow examined by Dr. James Andrews.
It's never a good thing when a pitcher has to see Dr. James Andrews. The Marlins recently shut down Capps for four weeks with a sprained right elbow. Tommy John surgery remains a possibility, and the Marlins will know for sure their course of action once the examination is complete. Capps posted a 3.00 with a 15/3 K/BB ratio in 12 relief innings.

Acquired from the Mariners over the winter for Logan Morrison, Capps posted a 3.60 ERA and 8/5 K/BB ratio across 10 innings this spring. While most assumed he would get a roster coming into spring training, he'll surely contribute out of the big league bullpen at some point this season.

Carter Capps struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief Wednesday against the Braves.
The hard-throwing Capps was the Marlins' return in the Logan Morrison trade with the Mariners. Overall, he's allowed two runs and posted a 5/3 K/BB ratio in five innings this spring. A bullpen spot appears to be his to lose.
