Gomes will take the bullpen spot once held by promising youngster Jake McGee, who was sent back to the minors last week. The 26-year-old Gomes has fanned 22 batters in just 13 1/3 innings this year at Triple-A Durham and should do well in middle relief. | ||||||

Gomes, 26, has registered a 1.35 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 11 appearances this season at Triple-A Durham. He has also fanned a whopping 22 batters in 13 1/3 innings. The Rays will use him as a middle reliever. | ||||||
