"It was a backdoor slider that wasn't really a good pitch, but I think it surprised him," said O'Day.

O'Day picked up his third save in as many days on Thursday, hurling a perfect ninth inning to close the door on the Nationals in a 5-4 win.

O'Day is filling in for the injured Zach Britton and he's doing quite well. Not only has he saved four straight games, he hasn't allowed a base runner in any of those appearances. If you;re in need of saves, O'Day could be a great pickup for the final couple of weeks. With that said, he probably won't be available for Friday;s game against the Blue Jays.

O'Day picked up another save Wednesday, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning against the Nationals.

He's now recorded saves on consecutive days, adding some shine to what's been a spectacular season for O'Day. In fact, he's really had four consecutive spectacular seasons since coming to Baltimore. He's got a 1.91 ERA as an Oriole with 278 strikeouts in 259 innings, so it's nice to see him get rewarded with some saves while Zach Britton is sidelined. The five he's got now represent a new career high.

O'Day secured his fourth save in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Nationals, pitching a perfect ninth inning. He struck out two.

O'Day has not surrendered an earned run since a Sept. 2 appearance against the Rays, a span of nine consecutive outings. The veteran reliever also has at least one strikeout in six consecutive trips to the mound. O'Day continues to be a valued and versatile member of the Orioles bullpen, capable of carrying out both the set-up and closer roles effectively. He has also been particularly efficient as of late, facing the minimum number of hitters in three of his last four one-inning appearances.

O'Day (6-2) earned the victory by getting two outs in the eighth inning in a 2-1 win over the Yankees on Monday. He did not surrender a hit or an earned run.

O'Day has provided superior set-up work out of the bullpen all season, and has now blanked opposing batters in 18 of his 21 appearances since the All-Star break. His superior control and ability to mow down hitters (66 strikeouts in 53.1 innings) make him a valuable commodity each time he takes the mound.

O'Day allowed three runs on four hits, walking one and striking out one while retiring just two hitters to take the loss in Baltimore's 4-3 loss to Minnesota on Friday night.

The typically reliable set-up man, O'Day (5-2, 1.70 ERA), was called upon to protect a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning, and couldn't finish the inning. He coughed up three runs to give the Twins their eventual margin of victory. He has enjoyed a very productive season, so this isn't likely to be a portent of things to come.
