Gonzalez allowed three runs on four hits and had eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings against the Astros on Wednesday.

Gonzalez struck out eight and allowed just four hits but tied a career-high with three homers, as the Orioles dropped their fifth straight. Chris Carter hit two solo home runs off Gonzalez, and George Springer had a solo shot, too. Gonzalez will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start Tuesday against Boston.

Gonzalez allowed one run on three hits, he did not walk a batter and struck out six over eight innings, but came away with a no-decision in a game the Orioles would win 2-1 against Tampa Bay on Friday night.

He now sports a very respectable 3.48 ERA and has been a consistent performer on the mound for Baltimore. He was efficient in this one, tossing just 96 pitches (65 for strikes) in covering the eight innings, but the offense didn't give him any help, winning in walk-off fashion in the ninth.

Gonzalez gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings Tuesday en route to his fifth win of the season.

He retired 13 of 15 batters after yielding a three-run home run to Nelson Cruz in the third inning, and his teammates supplied enough run support to afford Gonzalez a comfortable cushion in the later innings. Only three of Gonzalez's eight starts have been quality, but he still sports a solid 3.24 ERA and 1.12 WHIP, which warrants ownership in mid-sized leagues.

Gonzalez (4-2) allowed just an unearned run on three hits and three walks over 7.2 innings Wednesday to earn a win over the Jays.

Gonzalez took a step back in his last start, giving up five runs, but he bounced back in a big way in this one, pushing his ERA back under 3.00 for the year. Gonzalez has always been a guy who's outperformed his peripherals, posting consistently low BABIPs and consistently high strand rates. Those are oddly sabermetrics-defying skills, but it's worked -- he has a 3.41 career ERA, after all. He's slated for a week of rest now, with his next start not until next Wednesday against the Mariners.

Gonzalez took the win Saturday against the Rays, allowing no earned runs in 7.2 innings and striking out six.

With this performance, Gonzalez is now off to a very solid 2.59 ERA start to the season, much unlike last year. However, his 3.91 FIP could imply trouble down the road.

Gonzalez did not figure in the decision despite a subpar performance. He has delivered just one quality start in four turns in the rotation out of the gate. Gonzalez also was a slow starter in 2014, with a 5.19 ERA in April that led to a 4.04 ERA in the first half before a 2.19 ERA in the second half.

Gonzalez won his second consecutive start on Sunday, striking out five and walking four while limiting the Red Sox to three runs over 5.0 innings.

Holding a tough Red Sox lineup at bay is no easy task, and despite the four walks Gonzalez pitched well enough to get the win. He will need to limit the free passes in order to go deeper into games, but his high strikeout rate has helped mitigate the damage thus far. Gonzalez will be in the hunt for win number three against this same Boston team on Friday.

Gonzalez had perhaps the best start of his career Tuesday, fanning a career-high 10 while giving up just one run on four hits and a walk in seven innings against the Yankees.

He has now given up just two earned runs with 15 strikeouts over 12.2 innings to start the season, and is probably worth a flier, especially in deeper formats. Gonzalez got whiffs on nine of the 26 changeups he threw Tuesday (34.6 percent) and only two of his changeups were put in play (both for outs). If he can continue to sequence well and allow that changeup to play at plus or better then he could keep building off this early success. He will face a tougher test in his next start Monday in Boston.

Gonzalez made his first start of the season Wednesday and went 5.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits with five walks and five strikeouts.

The five walks were very uncharacteristic for Gonzalez, who walked 51 in 159 innings in 2014. He was able to mitigate the damage by allowing just the one run. Gonzalez has put up consistent numbers over the last two and a half seasons and can fall in with a mid-3.00s ERA and mid-1.20s WHIP when all is said and done.

Gonzalez will be Baltimore's No. 3 starter and his first turn in the rotation will be Wednesday against the Rays, MASN Sports reports.

Gonzalez entered spring training unsure if he would make the rotation at all, battling Ubaldo Jimenez and Kevin Gausman for the final two spots. Not only did Gonzalez ensure a spot, he also surpassed Bud Norris and became the No. 3 starter. Gonzalez allowed 11 runs in 18.1 innings, which is a bit high, but he struck out 16 and walked just one this spring.

Gonzalez got up to 84 pitches and he will throw more than 90 pitches in his final start later this week. The exact spot Gonzalez will slot in the rotation is still unknown, but he will be somewhere in the final three spots.

Gonzalez tossed two scoreless innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts in his first game this spring Thursday.

Gonzalez entered camp healthy and is competing against Ubaldo Jimenez and Kevin Gausman for the final two spots in the rotation. The Blue Jays had a soft lineup in Thursday's game, but Gonzalez was just getting his feet wet for a couple of innings. Gonzalez had a 2.19 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in the second half of 2014. He has the most MLB experience of the three rotation candidates.

Gonzalez agreed to a one-year, $3.275 million contract with the Orioles on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.

While his middling strikeout rate (6.4 K/9 for career) may forever keep him on the fringes of shallower mixed consideration, Gonzalez has proven a valuable innings eater for Baltimore. He has turned in ERAs under 3.80 in all three of his major league seasons, with a career-best 3.23 mark last year. His 4.89 FIP suggests regression in coming, but it looks like he'll get a chance to hold down a rotation spot, at least to start the year.

Gonzalez will start Game 4 of the ALCS against the Royals on Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.

Gonzalez did not pitch in the Division Series, with the Orioles sweeping the Tigers in three games, and thus Wednesday's start will be his first since the Sept. 28 regular-season finale. Depending on how Tuesday's Game 3 plays out, Gonzalez could have the added pressure of trying to keep Baltimore's season alive.

Gonzalez was told that he will start Game 4 of the ALDS, if necessary, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Bud Norris will get an opportunity to send the Orioles to the ALCS, but if he fails, Gonzalez will start Monday. Gonzalez dispelled any notion that he might be injured, saying that he was never actually told he'd start Game 3, contrary to prior reports.

Gonzalez will not start Game 3 of the ALDS against the Tigers on Sunday, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Prior reports had Gonzalez pegged as the Game 3 starter, but Bud Norris is now penciled in to toe the rubber for Baltimore. A reason for Gonzalez's scratch has not been given, but it may be injury-related, or perhaps manger Buck Showalter has just decided he'd be better utilized out of the bullpen.

Gonzalez will start Game 3 of the ALDS Sunday, MASN Sports reports.

Gonzalez pitched well throughout the season and ended on a high note with a 2.19 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in the second half. He faces a tall task on the road against Detroit. Gonzalez allowed seven runs in 3.1 innings against the Tigers in his first start of the season, the only time all season that he allowed more than four runs in a game.

Gonzalez pitched five scoreless innings against Toronto, allowing five hits in a win on Sunday.

Gonzalez threw 45 of his 62 pitches for strikes. As expected, the Orioles were careful with his pitch count, with the team expected to call on the right-hander for relief duty during the postseason. Gonzalez finished the regular season with a 3.23 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 111:51 K:BB ratio in 159 innings.

Gonzalez has been named Sunday's starter, the Baltimore Sun's Eduardo A. Encina reports.

He lasted 5.2 innings in his last outing, but the Orioles may opt to give a good portion of the game over to the bullpen in case Gonzalez is needed in relief in the early going of the ALDS. Ubaldo Jimenez, for one, could be an option to relieve Gonzalez against the Blue Jays.

Gonzalez may start Sunday's season finale against the Blue Jays, MASN Sports reports.

It is likely Gonzalez will pitch in some form during the final series in Toronto so he can stay fresh for the playoffs. This could mean a relief appearance. If he starts Sunday, Gonzalez likely will not go deep in the game as several members of the bullpen will need to stay fresh as well.
