Maxwell, who is currently working his way back from a fractured hand, is 0-for-17 with eight strikeouts and a walk through five games with Double-A Corpus Christi. "When you start talking injury-wise, you just want to make sure that physically, the guy is able to perform and he's not having any setbacks from a health standpoint," said Porter. "I'm not worried about any other aspects." It's not clear when Maxwell will be activated from the disabled list, but he'll be the Astros' starting center fielder upon his return.

He has been sidelined since late April with a fractured left hand.

Justin Maxwell (hand) hit 15 balls off a tee and took 30 soft-tosses on Monday.
Maxwell is no longer wearing a brace on his fractured left hand and is progressing steadily. He's scheduled to have a routine X-ray on Tuesday to see how the healing is coming along. The outfielder should make a late May/early June return if all goes well.

Maxwell had the protective cast removed from his fractured left hand on Tuesday and is ramping up his baseball activities slowly but surely. Barring a setback, he should be ready for activation before the end of the month.
