G Raul Neto and F Trey Lyles went to the bench. "I wouldn't call it experimental mode," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "I would call it adjustment mode."

G Alec Burks scored 21 points to lead the Jazz to just their third home win in five tries on Saturday night. Burks, who also had five rebounds and four assists, scored nine points in the decisive fourth quarter for Utah (8-7). "He's a great player," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said of Davis, "but we did a good job on the whole as a group."

G Alec Burks notched 15 off the bench for Utah Friday. He contributed four points in a 13-0 Utah flurry midway through the first quarter, erasing a 12-11 deficit, then had a four-point play in an 18-4 run by the Jazz early in the second quarter, when they went up 46-27.Utah's lead was 50-33 at the half, at which point Burks had 12 points and F Derrick Favors had chipped in eight points and six rebounds.

Burks tallied a game-high 27 points (9-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 8-14 FT), six assists, five rebounds, and three steals in 37 minutes of action Tuesday against the Lakers.
After he was held scoreless in the preseason opener Sunday, Burks, who is returning from shoulder surgery that ended his past season prematurely, was Tuesday's standout performer, though he did benefit from playing 37 of the game's 53 minutes. Along with scoring six of Utah's 12 points in overtime, Burks showed sound decision making, surrendering only two turnovers against his six assists. Burks is believed to be in a competition with Rodney Hood for the starting shooting-guard role, so he'll need to put together a few more strong preseason performances in order to keep himself at the top of the depth chart.
Sun Aug 9 201516:41Alec Burks: (Shoulder) 100 Percent Healthy
Burks told SLAM that his surgically-repaired left shoulder is 100 percent healthy and that he was cleared to take contact in practice a couple weeks ago.
As long as there aren't setbacks in his rehab, it appears Burks should be ready for the Jazz's training camp at the start of October. Starting point guard Dante Exum went down with a torn ACL last week and is expected to miss the entire 2015-16 season. Trey Burke and Rodney Hood are positioned to get their fair share of backcourt minutes, but Burks should get enough run to be useful in most 12-team leagues and larger. During the month and a half that Burks played under coach Quin Snyder last season, he averaged 13.9 points, 1.0 three-pointer, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks in 33 minutes per game while shooting 40 percent from the field (a career-low) and 38 percent from beyond the arc (a career-high) to go with 82 percent at the free-throw line (another career-high). Seeing that Snyder played Burks 33 mpg last season is encouraging for the guard's return, but even with Exum out of the picture, some of those minutes that Burks was getting last season will end up going to Hood unless the team starts using smaller lineups more often.

Burks (shoulder) will be restrained from contact drills for another three months, The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Burks had season-ending surgery back in December to address an ongoing irritation in his shoulder. In fact, he's had the injury since his playing days at Colorado and has openly expressed his elation to play with a clean bill of health for the first time in his professional career. He came into the season as Utah's starting shooting guard but there's some concern heading into 2015-16 that current rookie Rodney Hood may relegate Burks back to a sixth man role since Hood had a breakout finish to his season and Burks obviously has a lot of question marks clouding his future. This dynamic will probably force Burks into the later rounds of drafts next preseason, although he'll be a steal across all formats if he manages to take on a full workload within the first month of the 2015-16 season, off the bench or as a starter.

Burks (shoulder) has a rough timetable for return set right before the start of training camp in the fall, The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Burks had season-ending surgery in late December on a shoulder injury that plagued him throughout his professional and college career at Colorado. Before the surgery, he noted that he was unable to finish at the rim with his left hand and at times couldn't even raise his arm above his shoulder. It's still unclear on when he'll be able to pick up basketball activities, but the thought of him having full range of motion in his shoulder for the first time in his professional career makes him an enticing player when he eventually returns to full health, which may not occur until after the 2015-16 season begins.
Tue Dec 30 201418:36Alec Burks: (Shoulder) Out For Season
Burks (shoulder) will undergo season-ending surgery Wednesday and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in 2015.
He had missed the previous two games with the ailment, and with the Jazz clearly focused on the future, Burks' long-term health was of utmost importance. He was averaging 13.9 points with career highs of 4.2 rebounds and three assists in 33.3 minutes per game. Rodney Hood and Dante Exum figure to see significant minutes over the rest of the season, with Hood figuring to be the starting shooting guard for the foreseeable future. Both players are worth adding in mid-sized leagues.

Burks (shoulder) will miss his third straight game Tuesday against the Timberwolves, Jody Genessy of the Deseret News reports.
Burks has been dealing with the shoulder issue for most of the season but has been able to play through discomfort and hopes to put off surgery until the offseason. He'll miss a third straight game as the Jazz look to get back on track after falling to the Clippers 101-97 on Monday night. In Burks' absence, rookie Rodney Hood has been able to move into the starting lineup.
Sun Dec 28 201415:54Burks (shoulder) will not play Monday against Clippers
Burks (shoulder) will not play Monday against the Clippers, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Burks has been dealing with a nagging shoulder issue, and it has now cost him back-to-back contests for the first time since Nov. 3-5. Rodney Hood will be a likely candidate to see the starting lineup once again, with Burks eyeing a return Tuesday against Minnesota.

Burks (shoulder) is confirmed to be out for Saturday's game against the Sixers.
The next chance for Burks to return will be Monday's game against the Clippers, but he won't be 100 percent for a while considering how long this shoulder injury has been nagging him. Rodney Hood will likely start in Burks' place.

Burks (shoulder) did not participate in shootaround Saturday and is considered questionable to play against the Sixers, the Salt Lake Tribune's Aaron Falk reports.
Burks continues to battle the shoulder issue that's plagued him for most of the season. He's experiencing some soreness and inflammation but likely won't miss extended time. The plan is for Burks to continue to play through the discomfort and eventually undergo corrective surgery, likely once the season comes to an end.

Burks recorded 23 points (7-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 7-8 FT), three rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes during the Jazz's 97-91 win versus the Grizzlies on Monday.
Burks has had his share of ups and downs this season, but Monday was one of his best showings of the year, as he was unusually efficient from the field. He had been struggling with his shot (37.3 FG in last five games), so this was an encouraging result. Expect Burks to continue seeing sufficient playing time going forward.

Burks had a strong game on Sunday in a losing effort against Washington. He finished with 19 points (5-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 6-8 FT), two rebounds, and two assists in 35 minutes.
Burks was able to shoot well from all over the court and the fact that he can find ways to get to the line really helps his scoring totals. If he was able to contribute more auxiliary stats he would become a much more valuable player. He will have plenty of opportunities on a young Utah team that just invested in his upside, so remain patient with his development.

Burks scored 14 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and added three rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes of action against the Spurs on Tuesday.
It appears Burks has recovered from his injury as he played 30 minutes on Tuesday. You should expect a regular workload until another injury ensues. Burks, the four year pro, has not played a full season in his career. He did play 78 out of 82 games last year though.
Mon Dec 8 201420:50Alec Burks: (Shoulder) Starting Monday
Burks (shoulder) will start Monday's contest at Sacramento, the Jazz's official site reports.
Burks will miss just two games due to left shoulder inflammation, but offseason surgery will eventually be required to shore up the ailment. Prior to aggravating the shoulder on Dec. 1, the four-year pro scored in double digits in four consecutive contests, averaging 15 points (on 43 percent shooting), four rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 0.8 steals in 34 minutes. Such a workload may be hard to rely upon, though, as the season continues onward.
Mon Dec 8 201415:37Alec Burks: (Shoulder) Plans To Have Surgery In Offseason
Burks (shoulder), who is officially listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Kings, has been pain-free over the weekend despite that fact that he'll need surgery this offseason, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Burks has dealt with a lingering shoulder injury since college that was re-aggravated when he received a Flagrant 2 foul from Arron Afflalo on Dec. 1. The fourth-year player has seemingly dodged a bullet however, and it seems that he'll be able to put off surgery until the season is over. When considering that he has deemed himself pain-free, there's no reason to believe he won't be the same player he was before Afflalo gave him a scare.
