Fri Sep 23 202201:06Jarred Kelenic Productive In Return
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic drew the start in his first game back from the minor leagues Thursday, and he delivered, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored. Kelenic had been very hot of late at Triple-A Tacoma, and while this performance only lifts his season OPS to a dismal .515, fantasy managers in dynasty and keeper leagues should still take note. Kelenic still has the ability to post strong totals in all fantasy categories, as evidenced by his five homers and five steals in 116 major-league at-bats this season.

Wed Sep 21 202218:01Mariners Recall Jarred Kelenic
The Seattle Mariners are recalling outfielder Jarred Kelenic from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Kelenic struggled in 40 games with the M's earlier this year before being sent back to the farm, as he went 14-for-113 (.124) with four homers, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored, five stolen bases and 47 strikeouts. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter was much better at Tacoma, slashing .296/.366/.557 with a .922 OPS, 18 homers, 65 RBI, 58 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 86 games played. He has a batting average of .167 with 18 home runs, 55 RBI and 11 stolen bases in his first 133 major-league games dating back to his rookie season in 2021. Kelenic's power/speed profile is worth taking a chance on in deeper leagues for the last few weeks of the regular season.

Thu Aug 11 202221:22Jarred Kelenic Optioned To Triple-A
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday. He was recalled by the Mariners on July 31 and struggled with a .074 batting average with two RBI and two runs scored across 27 plate appearances since being called up. The 23-year-old will look to turn things around in the minors and should be in line for a September call-up when rosters expand. Julio Rodriguez (wrist) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move. Rodriguez had been dealing with a wrist contusion and will return to the lineup Friday against the Texas Rangers.

Sun Jul 31 202212:40Jarred Kelenic Returning To Seattle
The Seattle Mariners are calling up outfield prospect Jarred Kelenic from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday. It's unknown if he'll be in the starting lineup on Sunday against Houston Astros right-hander Jake Odorizzi, but there's a good chance he will be with rookie Julio Rodriguez (hand) leaving Saturday's game early after being hit by a pitch. Kelenic went just 12-for-86 (.140) with three home runs, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and four stolen bases in 30 games for the M's earlier this year before being sent down. He was much better at Tacoma, slashing .288/.353/.550 with a .903 OPS, 11 long balls, 37 RBI, 34 runs scored and three stolen bases in 54 games. The 23-year-old should regularly be in Seattle's lineup, and his blend of power and speed makes him roster-worthy in all fantasy formats now that he's back in the bigs.

Thu Jun 30 202221:16Jarred Kelenic Heating Up In The Minors
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic, who was optioned after going just 12-for-86 (.140) with three home runs, 10 RBI, nine walks and 36 strikeouts in 96 plate appearances to start the year for the M's, is heating up at Triple-A Tacoma. He has his slash line up to .297/.340/.565 with a .905 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI, 21 runs scored and two stolen bases in 32 games after going 12-for-31 (.387) with two home runs, nine RBI and four runs scored in his last six games for Tacoma. The 22-year-old wasn't called up when Taylor Trammell (hamstring) landed on the injured list this week, but Kelenic should come back up to the majors at some point in the second half of the season. Kelenic will need to continue making gains at the plate on the farm, as he's walked just eight times and struck out 41 times in 147 plate appearances.

Fri May 13 202215:29Mariners Option Jarred Kelenic Friday
The Seattle Mariners optioned outfielder Jarred Kelenic to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday among a slew of roster moves. The team also activated reliever Sergio Romo (shoulder) from the injured list, called up outfielder Steven Souza Jr. and infielder Mike Ford from the minors, claimed right-hander Adrian Sampson off waivers, optioned left-hander Danny Young and outfielder Stuart Fairchild to the minors and designated right-hander Yohan Ramirez for assignment. Kelenic, a former top prospect, has struggled mightily to the tune of a .140/.219/.291 slash line with 36 strikeouts, three home runs, 10 RBI and four stolen bases in his first 30 games for the M's. The 22-year-old left-handed hitter still has plenty of upside and should be back in the bigs eventually, but the Mariners will hope he can get back on track in the minors first.

Wed May 11 202214:33Jarred Kelenic On The Bench Wednesday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic isn't in the starting lineup on Wednesday. The Mariners will take on the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Bailey Falter but will do so with Kelenic on the bench. The outfielder is batting .141 with a .221 on-base percentage, three home runs, and four stolen bases in 95 plate appearances this season. Instead, Dylan Moore will get the start in right field. Moore is batting eighth on Wednesday. For the season, he's hitting .192 with a .323 on-base percentage, a home run, and a stolen base in 32 plate appearances. Fantasy managers are probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help in the outfield.

Sat May 7 202209:03Jarred Kelenic Hits Pinch-Hit Homer On Friday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic hit a pinch-hit two-run homer on Friday night in the Mariners' 8-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. New York Mets legend Kelenic is off to a slow start in 2022, slashing just .139/.222/.319 with three homers and 10 RBI over 25 games and 72 at-bats. Kelenic struggled in 2021 as well when he slashed just .181/.265/.350, while hitting 14 homers to go with 43 RBI. Hopefully, Friday's homer can jump-start Kelenic's bat and he starts to realize his elite potential. Managers in redraft formats should remain patient with the 22-year old realizing that the season is only 15% old.

Mon Apr 11 202218:52Jarred Kelenic Heading To The Bench On Monday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is absent from the starting lineup for Monday night's game against the Minnesota Twins. Jesse Winker and Mitch Haniger are covering the corner outfield positions for the game with Adam Frazier at designated hitter. Kelenic started each of the team's first three games of the year and went just 1-for-11 with one walk, one stolen base and five strikeouts. Kelenic struggled in his first exposure to the majors last year, slashing just .181/.265/.350, but he's an elite talent and could still provide major dividends for fantasy managers as soon as this year.

Wed Feb 23 202216:50Jarred Kelenic Has New Representation
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is now represented by Nick Chanock of Wasserman, according to a source. A lot was expected of Kelenic when he debuted with the Mariners last season, but he fell well short of those expectations when he hit just .181/.265/.350 with 14 home runs, 43 RBI, six stolen bases and 41 runs scored in his first 93 major league games over 377 plate appearances. Despite his first-season struggles, the 22-year-old outfielder has plenty of upside going forward, and the Mariners could look to sign him to a contract extension once the lockout is over. Fantasy managers shouldn't overspend for the youngster, but better days are surely in his future if he stays healthy.

Thu Sep 23 202112:28Jarred Kelenic Walks Twice, Steals A Base
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic went 0-for-2 with two walks against the Oakland Athletics Wednesday, adding a stolen base. He now has six for the season. Though he still has a .606 OPS in 302 at-bats, he's started to turn his year around in a big way with a .269/.367/.673 slash line, five homers, and two steals in his last 15 games. If he's been dropped in redraft leagues, he could be an impact player in all categories the rest of the way.

Mon Sep 20 202115:09Jarred Kelenic Homers, Drives In Three Sunday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic recorded three extra-base hits Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, three RBI, and two runs scored. His two-run home run was his 13th of the season and his fifth in his last eight games. With a .283/.348/.650 slash line in September, Kelenic is showing plenty of signs of emerging from his season-long slump. He should still be a top asset for keeper and dynasty managers, and he is primed to have a big impact in all formats in 2022.

Sat Sep 18 202100:14Jarred Kelenic Homers Twice Against Royals Friday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic had a big game Friday against the Kansas City Royals, homering twice off of starting pitcher Jon Heasley in four at-bats. Both homers were two-run shots, and Kelenic now has 12 home runs on the season in 287 at-bats. While his year has been disappointing, Kelenic has put up a .564 slugging percentage in 55 September at-bats. A strong finish could be very encouraging for fantasy managers heading into 2022, though dynasty and keeper league managers should keep Kelenic rostered regardless.

Thu Sep 16 202100:34Jarred Kelenic Scores Twice, Steals A Bag
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic had a strong game Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and his fifth stolen base of the year. He came close to ending the game with a walk-off double, but he struck out after the ball was ruled just foul, and Seattle went on to lose 9-4 in 10 innings. Kelenic has posted a truly dismal .547 OPS in 283 at-bats this season, but with 10 homers and five steals, the fantasy upside could be immense. He's slugging .500 over his last seven games, which hopefully will serve as a preview for 2022.

Mon Sep 13 202100:57Jarred Kelenic Contributes Two-Run Shot
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic hit a two-run shot against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday, his only hit in three at-bats. He also walked once. Kelenic has now gone deep in two straight games, and is off to an excellent start to September with a .256/.310/.538 slash line through 10 games. Fantasy managers will understandably have little trust in Kelenic at this important point of the season, but perhaps there are worse dart throws out there.

Sun Sep 12 202100:46Jarred Kelenic Knocks Solo Shot Saturday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic hit his ninth homer of the season Saturday, knocking a solo shot off Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Humberto Castellanos in the fourth inning of a 7-3 defeat. It was his only hit in four at-bats. Kelenic now has a hit in seven of his nine September games, with four extra-base hits in that span, but even so he's still only managed a .289 on-base percentage for the month. There are signs that he's coming around, but he still shouldn't be active down the stretch of the season for fantasy managers.

Thu Sep 9 202113:46Jarred Kelenic Drives In Two Wednesday
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic has failed to live up to the hype early in his career, but he had a solid game Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI, and a run scored in an 8-5 victory over the rival Houston Astros. Despite plenty of bumps in the road, Kelenic has quietly slashed .276/.323/.448 over his last seven games. While that's a respectable line, he still only needs to be rostered in dynasty and keeper formats.

Wed Sep 1 202123:27Jarred Kelenic Swipes A Bag Against Astros
Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic stole his fourth base of the season against the Houston Astros Wednesday. He went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts. The steal is a good reminder of the five-category potential Kelenic possesses, but he's now struck out eight times in this three-game series, and in half of his 28 at-bats over his last seven games. He'll be happy to face an opponent other than Houston, but he should be firmly parked on fantasy benches for now.
