Tue Nov 16 201011:25Report: Marlins 'working hard' to land Buck
Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Marlins are "working hard" to land free agent catcher John Buck.
The Marlins used a carousel of catchers this season and weren't happy with the production they got from either one. Buck blasted 20 home runs in 2010 for the Blue Jays and would represent a serious offensive upgrade. He's also being courted heavily by the Red Sox and a few other clubs. It's probably going to take a lucrative multi-year deal to get him off the board.

Wed Nov 10 201018:07Red Sox could pursue free agent C John Buck
According to Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston, the Red Sox are likely to target catcher John Buck this winter if they fail to re-sign Victor Martinez.
Buck, 30, tallied a respectable 20 home runs and 66 RBI this year for the Blue Jays and would come at a far cheaper salary than V-Mart, who is likely to be courted by multiple high-payroll teams. The Red Sox have already had "extensive" internal discussions about Buck, according to Edes, and could move quickly if Martinez chases a big contract to a place like Detroit or Baltimore. Both the Tigers and Orioles are known to have serious interest.

Fri Oct 29 201010:09John Buck labeled as Type B free agent
John Buck will be a Type B free agent this offseason.
Bad news for the Blue Jays. They seem set on platooning youngster J.P Arencibia and veteran Jose Molina behind the plate next year and might have scored a first-round pick if Buck was labeled as a Type A free agent. Now the best they'll get -- assuming Buck heads elsewhere -- is a supplemental round draft pick. The 30-year-old had 20 homers and 66 RBI this year.

Mon Oct 4 201020:46Jays would consider bring Buck back
Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said that the club will explore re-signing John Buck, but said that he has earned a long-term contract.
Buck batted .281 with 20 homers and 66 RBI this season, but as Anthopoulos says, prospect catcher J.P. Arencibia doesn't have anything left to prove in the minor leagues. Just a bonus, Arencibia is also cheaper and team-controlled. In other words, look for Buck to be suiting up for someone else next season.

Sat Sep 25 201011:02Tigers could make a run at Buck
The Tigers could make a run at the Blue Jays' John Buck if Gerald Laird departs as a free agent as expected, according to Lynn Henning of The Detroit News.
The Tigers would be better off just handing the job to Alex Avila. Buck, though, will draw some suitors as a free agent this offseason after hitting 18 homers for Toronto.

Wed Sep 1 201022:24Buck hits first HR since coming off DL
John Buck hit his first home run in five weeks in the Blue Jays' 1-0 loss to the Rays on Wednesday night.
Since coming off the DL on Aug. 20, Buck had no homers and just two extra-base hits. Still, he remains a reasonable option in deeper mixed leagues. Buck hit .272 with 13 homers and 41 RBI before the All-Star break.
Fri Aug 20 201022:43Buck activated from DL
Blue Jays activated C John Buck from the 15-day disabled list.
Buck missed two weeks with a laceration on his right thumb. He returned in style Friday night, finishing 4-for-5 with two RBI and four runs scored. The Toronto backstop is widely available in mixed leagues, so it could be worth combing the waiver wire to see if he's still out there.
Wed Aug 18 201011:16Buck (thumb) homers twice in rehab game
John Buck (thumb) homered twice and drove in six runs in his first minor league rehab game with Double-A New Hampshire on Tuesday night.
With a couple more rehab games under his belt, Buck should return Friday in Boston, when he'll be eligible to be activated off of the disabled list. His ownership has dropped significantly in most formats, so go ahead and pick him up if he's available.

Sun Aug 8 201010:41Buck will test out thumb Monday
John Buck will test out his injured thumb by playing catch Monday.
Buck, who suffered a laceration Wednesday as a result of a foul ball, is expected to get his stitches off in a few days. The Jays are hoping he will be ready to return from the DL on August 20, the first day he's eligible. Given J.P. Arencibia's performance in his debut, though, they aren't likely to rush him back.

Fri Aug 6 201020:55Jays hoping Buck is ready when eligible
The Blue Jays are hoping that John Buck (hand) will return from the disabled list on August 20, the day he's eligible to be activated.
Manager Cito Gaston admits that he's not sure if that will happen or not. "I'm hoping that he will be," Gaston said. "He's a big loss to us. Buck's done a good job here for us handling the pitching staff, and also his bat." Buck is able to grip a bat but will not be cleared to throw a baseball for a few days.

Wed Aug 4 201015:19Buck leaves game with hand injury
John Buck had to leave Wednesday's game in the fifth inning after being struck on the right hand by a foul ball.
There's no word yet on the extent of the injury. We'll update you on Buck's status when we hear more. Jose Molina replaced Buck behind the plate.

Wed Jul 21 201000:14Buck has three doubles in win over Royals
John Buck was 3-for-5 with three doubles, an RBI and three runs scored in a blowout win over the Royals on Tuesday night.
Buck is now batting .386 (17-for-44) this month and has hit safely in each of the last seven games. We have no idea if Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos has any intention to trade Buck, but he could probably get some pretty nice value in return right now. It could be a possibility with J.P. Arencibia currently tearing up the Pacific Coast League.
Thu Jul 1 201011:22John Buck out of Thursday's lineup
John Buck is not in Thursday's starting lineup against the Indians.
Jose Molina will start behind the dish and bat eighth. Buck is expected to return to the lineup on Friday.

Tue Jun 15 201001:14Jays' Buck homers twice in victory
John Buck hit a pair of homers Monday in the Jays' 6-3 win over the Padres.
Buck has had a three-homer game and a pair of two-homer games this season. His OPS had plummeted steadily over the last month, but his power numbers should remain pretty solid, even as his average continues to fall.
Thu Apr 29 201022:00Buck launches three bombs as Jays beat A's
John Buck launched three home runs and finished with five total RBI to help the Blue Jays defeat the A's 6-3 on Thursday night.
Career-highs all around for the 29-year-old Buck. He's had a terribly slow start to the season and is still only batting .194 after tonight's 3-for-4 outing, but it certainly was a special night. He had a chance to hit a fourth homer, but flew out to right and got a standing ovation anyway.
