Gregerson started the ninth inning protecting a 9-4 lead, but after striking out the first two hitters he faced the wheels came off, forcing Will Harris to record the final out of the game. Gregerson (personal) will rejoin the Astros on Saturday.
The right-hander left the team earlier in the week to await the birth of his child, but manager A.J. Hinch said Gregerson will be back for the final two games of the A's series. Houston hasn't missed its endgamer the last two days, but that's because the team was blown out 14-3 and 8-2 on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Pat Neshek remains the top fill-in option in Gregerson's absence.

Gregerson will leave the team Wednesday to be with his wife as she goes into labor, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The Astros have not officially made a move, but it's entirely possible, even with expanded rosters, Gregerson winds up on the paternity list. If he does, Gregerson could remain on leave for up to three days. Pat Neshek, who has posted a 3.16 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 28 holds this season, is a logical candidate to step into the closer role in Gregerson's absence.
