3B Chase Headley was ejected with two outs in the seventh inning by plate umpire Adrian Johnson while arguing he was hit with a pitch on a bunt attempt that went foul. After staying in the game, he got into a wild argument with Johnson, who continued the dispute by pointing a finger in Headley's face. Manager Joe Girardi restrained Headley, who also slammed his helmet. The argument ended when Headley was escorted to the dugout by another umpire. It was Headley's fourth career ejection and first since arguing balls and strikes with Marty Foster on Sept. 15, 2014, at Tampa Bay. The argument actually escalated after Headley was talking to C Brian McCann, who asked what happened.

3B Chase Headley returned to the starting lineup after pinch hitting Tuesday and was 1-for-4. He snapped a 0-for-15 hitless skid with an infield single in the second inning and struck out in his final two at-bats. Headley has three hits in his last 24 at-bats spanning six games.

3B Chase Headley had a scheduled day off Tuesday and it came at a good time. Headley has a sore tibia after being hit by a Drew Storen pitch in the seventh inning Monday night. "He felt better than he expected (Tuesday)," said Yankees manager Joe Girardi. Headley left Monday's game in the eighth after being hit. He's 2-for-20 with a double and three RBIs on the road trip after lining to left as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning on Tuesday.

3B Chase Headley was sore following Monday's game after being struck on the tibia in the seventh inning by Reds reliever Drew Storen, who hit three batters in the inning, including one with the bases loaded to force in a run. Storen was the first Reds pitcher to hit three batters in an inning since Raul Sanchez on May 15, 1960 versus the Phillies. "That doesn't happen very often," said Reds manager Bryan Price. "Obviously, there was no intent. That was a very unusual inning, for sure." Headley doesn't believe his injury is serious, but he will be evaluated Wednesday. "We know he's not trying to do it," said Yankees manager Joe Girardi of Storen. "But it is frustrating. We're already banged up. We're mostly concerned about Chase. It's not what you want to see happen to your guys."

3B Chase Headley returned to the starting lineup after getting his first game off Tuesday. Headley, who was a pinch hitter Tuesday, became the fifth Yankee to get a turn hitting out of the second spot. Headley hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat and has been on base in 14 the 15 games this season.

3B Chase Headley was not in the starting lineup Tuesday as manager Joe Girardi gave him the night off. Headley, 2B Starlin Castro and CF Jacoby Ellsbury are the only Yankees to appear in the first 13 games before Tuesday. "He's been playing great," manager Joe Girardi said. "His legs have been a big part of his offense and I don't want those to get out from underneath him."

3B Chase Headley has gotten off to a hot start at the plate. He is hitting .467 through the first four games but Headley made a costly error in the seventh inning that led to a two-run rally which gave the Orioles a 6-5 victory. He also made an error in the first inning that was not costly to the Yankees.

3B Chase Headley continued his strong start with two more hits Wednesday, giving him seven in three games and a .636 batting average. He also leads the team with 11 total bases, playing well even as some of the Yankees' key bats are off to a slow start.

3B Chase Headley had three hits in Sunday's opener, and he followed with a home run and an RBI single Tuesday in a 5-0 win at Tampa Bay. He is hitting .625 (5-for-8) to open the season, a stark contrast to a rough start he dealt with last season. His defense was also stellar Tuesday, robbing the Rays of a line-drive would-be double.

"I just don't feel that he's 100 percent in watching his at-bats and watching him move around manager Joe Girardi said. "He did not complain to me, but just from watching him, I don't see the same explosiveness from him in either spot."

3B Chase Headley (stiff lower back) was not in the lineup Sunday. "(His back) stiffened up in the game (Saturday)," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "He informed us he probably would have said something during the game, but he noticed that (Rob Refsnyder) was out and (Ronald Torreyes) was in, and there really wasn't any place to go." He will travel with the team for their series against the Rays. Headley was 1-for-4 with a run on Saturday and was 4-for-12 in three games against the Red Sox.

3B Chase Headley (stiff lower back), 2B Starlin Castro (right hamstring strain) and CF Jacoby Ellsbury (bone bruise in right knee) weren't in the lineup. Ellsbury and Castro underwent MRI exams Sunday, and all three will travel to Tampa.

3B Chase Headley hit his 14th home run Sunday and reached for the 24th time in 26 starts. Headley's home run total is the second highest of his career behind the 31 he had with San Diego in 2012.

3B Chase Headley missed Friday's game with a sore Achilles tendon. Headley said that the medical staff had diagnosed the injury as Achilles tendonitis and he is unsure how long it will take to heal. Team doctors assured Headley he is at no risk of a more serious injury and that he could be available for the balance of the series. He was replaced in the lineup by Ronald Torreyes. Headley is batting .256 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs.

3B Chase Headley sat out Friday with a sore Achilles tendon. Headley said the medical staff diagnosed the injury as Achilles tendonitis and said he would be available for pinch-hitting duties. The staff assured him there is no risk of a more serious injury.

3B Chase Headley hit his 10th home run and added a single and a walk, giving the Yankees production out of the No. 8 spot in the batting order. He has four hits in two games against the Rays this weekend.

3B Chase Headley not only showed off his glove Friday but was the only Yankees hitter with two hits, raising his average to .254 and providing a spark out of the No. 8 slot in the batting order. His hit in the ninth inning made things interesting but the Yankees were held to a single run for the second straight game.
