It was his fifth bullpen session in the span of a week. "I'm pumped," said Moylan, who underwent back surgery in May. "I want to take the next step already. The way I'm throwing right now, I feel like I could get someone out. Obviously there's a process we have to run through because it's not like I just have my left finger operated on, it's my back. It's a process, but the end is near." He will need to go out on a minor league rehab assignment, but it appears he could be back in the Braves' bullpen by the end of the month.

Thu May 12 201108:40Peter Moylan could return late this season
Peter Moylan's back surgery is expected to cost him 12 weeks, which means he could possibly return in late August or September.
It's the third back surgery the Aussie has had, but the results of an MRI were encouraging enough that his down time shouldn't be too long. "When they looked at the MRI they said it looked like a back that hadn't been operated on," Moylan said. "And that's what was encouraging for me." Moylan said he was back pitching in Australia in eight weeks after a similar procedure before, but he concedes that coming back in the big leagues will be different. "It is a different ballgame over here when you're expected to be able to pitch every day," Moylan said. "So I think 12 weeks will probably do just about right."
